How big are you planning to make your world? Why did you have to start a new topic...I would think a moderator would be nice enough to move the topic for you.

I have planned my world to have about 20 levels. They will probably take a very long time to all do. So far I have only done 9, but the 10th (Mysterious Shadows; my maze level) and 11th have been planned. One of the reasons I take a long time to complete a level is because I do it in MASCOT - so when all the tiles are placed, I have no lightmap or Xichron map and I hae to place all that stuff.

Um...well...now that you mention it, that seems like what I should have done. Oh well. I hope I get over 15 replies on this topic, too. ------------------------------ (UPDATE) - Read me about 50% complete. (UPDATE) - Added Xichrons on Mysterious Shadows. (STATUS) - Going to check out my nodes; I have a bug report. :frown: ------------------------------ Question: (To all members of OBW) Do you want my completed levels? If so, who do I send them to?
(This message has been edited by MDWGMalc (edited 08-02-2001).)
I made my levels within MASCOT as well. I didn't like to have to convert a photoshop image to my tileset..I thought it was harder to plan out the level that way. Maybe that's just me....and you.

I don't think we're accepting new members now. Sorry.

You don't think? Who is the mastermind behind OBW anyway?

Woah! Ice! You gave a lot of bugs! Well, I fixed all the stuff you told me about, then, with my friend, ran through the World and found 'Going Up...' needed a lot of work. Because of all the bugs you found, I have moved the version up to 0.06b. I have not done a lot of work on 'Mysterious Shadows' lately - I have been focussing on the rest of the World. I am going to start an ice level, and I would like suggestions from anyone for a name.
(FIX) - Small pool of water in the beginning no longer has a dab of acid in it. (FIX) - The HP passage in the first level works now! (FIX) - The pit where the Axe Goblin is is no longer easily jumped. (FIX) - In the third level a conversation started before the screen had lightened up, so the screen remained black during the conversation. No longer true. (UPDATE) - Made level three a bit easier. (Lowered rope, added BG Tile arrows to tell you what to do on the second minecart. NOTE: All this stuff was given to me by Ice!
Level 1: (FIX) - The platform over the Axe Goblin pit now goes from side to side; it used to iss a tile out. (FIX) - BG Tiles not properly connected. (FIX) - Tinted some underwater(+acid) sprites. (FIX) - Improved 'Crunch Tile' positions.
Level 2: (NEW) - Added Xichrons. (DELETED) - Bill Gates. Couldn't get my 'if', 'else' and 'arg' stuff to work properly. I also coundn't figure out what he had to do with the plot...
Level 9: (A Suprise...) (FIX) - I recently changed from Cave FG Tiles to Purple FG Tiles; this resulted in misplacement etc. I re-placed them properly. (FIX) - I recently changed from Cave BG Tiles to Purple BG Tiles; then it only had one tile high platforms; I needed two tile high platforms, so I changed back.
Level 4: (FIX) - Crunch tiles in general...they were placed like I was an amateur.
That is all I got up to, today.

No one, really. AVN came up with the idea, Ascaaf runs the website, but we're not especially well organized. It all works out(at least, I hope :)).
So it would take more than one assinat-----I mean ummm....oh I see, that is very interesting.

Conversations: Insert the conversation ID into Info (0) of a speakable sprite to run the conversation. Conversations will start on the first line and continue downwards unless otherwise specified. Insert the character's name, picture ID and the text you wish to display in each line. For a simple conversation, just keep moving to the next line and typing more conversation. Click the "Edit" button to open the Response, If, and Action section of a line. If conditions ------------- 1: true if player has <arg> coins or more 2: true if player has item of type <arg> quantity <arg2> 4: true if flag # <arg> is set 5: true if player permflag # <arg> is set to <arg2> Where it says <arg>, insert an appropriate value. Action conditions ----------------- 1: remove <arg> coins 2: give player item of type <arg> <arg2: how many> 3: remove item of type <arg> 4: set permanent flag # <arg> 5: set player permflag # <arg> to <arg2> 6: Open Door, First info= the number in the Rock barrier's Info (0) second info=3 8: permanently validate sprite <arg> on level <arg2> 9: destroy this sprite permanently For items, use this list: 1. silver key 2. gold key 3. plat key, 4. magic potion 5. health potion 6. Fire nuts 7. Locket 8. Hammer 9. Poppy Muffin 10. Algernon Peice 11. Algernon Frame 12. Algernon 13.Gwindendon 14. Shield 15. Magic Shield 16. Smite Ring 17. Escape Ring 18. Ice Pick 19. Multi Crystal 20. Light Orb 21. Vorpal Dirk 22. Red Xichrons 23. Rez Necklace 24. Fire Charm 25. Mist Potion 26. Zir. Seeds If the IF conditions are met, the conversation will advance to the line you specify ( the box is beneath the IF clauses) or enter 0 to let the conversation continue to flow. If the IF conditions prove false, the conversation will jump to the line specified beneath the ACTION clauses. If there are no IF conditions, the conversation will run the ACTION conditions and advance to the line beneath those clauses. If responses are entered (above the IF and ACTION clauses) both the IF and ACTION clauses will be negated for that line. When the player presses the advance button on the conversation, if that line has responses, they will be displayed on screen for the player to choose from. Then the conversation will jump to the line indicated to the right of the response text. Make sure you connect these right because if you leave them as 0, the conversation will continue to flow normally. That should be everything...

Yeh, I have three:
1. Realm of monsters
2. Cold enough for ya?
3. Frostbite

Not a lot has been done lately. I have been going to cricket coaching for six hours a day and when I come home I do not really feel like MASCOTing. Now, however, my course is fnished, and I am going to use the name 'Frostbite' you gave me, Ice, and I might use 'Cold Enough For Ya?' instead of 'Hidden In The Mountains'.
(STATUS) - Only one bug report so far, this is good for the World; but I am getting bored! :frown: (QUESTION) - Where can I get a web-page for my World? To Beta Testers: Should I lower the rope in 'Retreating'? How much health do you have when you get to 'Forest Fire'?
There are a few good places to post a website. Geocities is allright, but has pop-up banners. iTools at mac.com is good, but in the contract it says theyown everything on the site. That may bother some people. To learn HTML check out htmlgoodies.com by Joe Burns, I thought myself the basics, but he taught me a lot of details, and for FREE! Hope that helps.

I haven't got there yet because of the bug in "Going up..."! When I transport, I go to the old place! Not the new place!
Um...yeah, sorry for my delay. This topic is getting old. I have not had bug reports for quite a while. spamguy, how was your vacation? I suppose it's a bit late to ask now, oh well.
(FIX) - Moved exit in 'Going Up...' so white does not cover the screen at the end. (A truely messy bug.) (UPDATE) - Worked a bit on the read-me. (STATUS) - Not much been done level-wise. I am going to start working very hard again soon. At least, I hope I will. (QUESTONN) - Zelda, have you been recieving the e-mail I have been sending you???
------------------ Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? Who knows? Who cares?
I have been working flat-out on the web-page today. I do not have DSL, instead I have 56k - so the process is painfully slow. However, the Web-Site is now rather complete.
(STATUS) - Web site started. (Tuesday, August 2nd 2001) (UPDATE) - Web site = 10% complete. (August 3rd.) - - - - - Quite a bit of work done. - - - - - (UPDATE) - Web site = 30% complete. (Sunday, August 12th 2001) (UPDATE) - Web site = 50% complete. Changed background image. (August 13th. (today!))
Would like suggestions from anyone for stuff to put on web-site. NOTE: If you suggest an applet, please tell me where/how to get it and how to use it - I'm a complete novice!! How do you add background music to your page??? The page is avaliable for viewing (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/mdwgmalc/")here.(/url) If you find any bugs, e-mail them to me at: malcolm.gill@ntlworld.com --Thanx!!

Well, not a lot was done but then I decided to get moving again. Added invisible Passages, overlay tiles, secrets etc. in the first level.
(UPDATE) - The Axe Goblin pit has been made impossible to get out of without finding a secret with a High Jump powerup. Another secret, if you have Fire Seeds gives you Ziridium Seeds which helps you kill the Axe Goblins. (NEW) - I put two more Axe Goblins into the pit and they all move in the same direction and it looks like they have the "Double Speed" powerup on but aren't moving any faster (NEW) - The secret spot wth the collapsing ground near the start: I have put two Spike Balls there which makes it more of a challenge. (NEW) - I have linkd a Teleporter to some scenery in Ziridium Brine; but if you don't find the Secret near it you will be a bit stuck...the Secret near it is an invisible Passage linked to another invisible Passage in some (more) Ziridium Brine with a teleporter at the bottom of the Pool which links back to the beginning of the level. (NEW) - Added a new secret spot rather easy to discover but kinda hard to get to. It is about three Xichrons on a tiny ledge abouve the far-side of the Acid Pool at the end. (COMMENT) - Can anyone think of anything to base my updated version around? I'm kinda stuck :frown:
(COMMENT) - Found a new kind of smiley: Γ, Γ, ΓΆ

Well...I haven't been posting a lot because of all my homework but I have been working a bit on Malcolm's World.

(FIX) - Passage at the end of "Burning Caves" was impossible to get through because I deleted all tiles in that level and re-made it but forgit to use overlay tiles: I used normal tiles :frown: (UPDATE) - More work done on "Mirages" (But I still can't spell that name :D)
