It may just be my imagination, but I dont THINK I remember seeing any women in any of the international databases. Is it just me, or is this just part of the demo?

In case anyone cares the no female thing was done to make the code easier. The names are generated randomly (it picks a name from a list of first names and then one from a list of surnames then a picture) so having to worry with gender would complicate things. They decided just to go all male.

I figured it was something like that. Getting the pictures to match would have been tricky.

And anyway, while it means that there are no women in college or administrative positions ... it also means there are no women criminals <g>.

Kim, Gill, Randy, Sydney, Jordan, Lee, Pat, Lou, Robin, Loren, Chris. Joyce and Hillary both have been men's names.

I'm thinking that the pictures in the databases could get pretty scary <g>.

No, I wouldn't. And I have to admit that I find it a bit strange to be the =only= female within the game universe (no wonder I use an anoymous hacker name <g> ).

To be fair, though, this is a direct port of a game made by another company, and it was like that from then. Ambrosia's own games (that I have played) have been very inclusive. The Escape Velocity series, for instance.

The images in Uplink seem pretty inclusive age-wise. Mostly white guys, though.
