The cutoff is once you've reached a rating above Novice, correct?
Here's what I'm doing: Once I get rating of Novice, I'm grabbing two Novice missions and two Beginner missions. I quit the two beginner missions to bring my rating down, then do the Novice missions. Repeat
In no time, I got 10,500c and am updating my gateway right now. Looks like this just might work...

Do you mean Decypher 3.0?
Last night I went to hack a bank and found that all the accounts had like 4k-6k in them. It took me about and hour to find one with 90k in it. I checked the statement and saw that they received about 85k from another accoount. I went and hacked that account and it had about 900k in it. So persistance pays off.
It seems like most people don't have that much in their bank account, but some do. On an hint note, look for wierd passwords when your hacking accounts.
Can't wait till I can buy the game and won't have to abandon missions no more!

Here's a tip, folks. Only worry about stealing money from people when you take a mission to trace a bank transfer. They GIVE you the account number for one account. You go onto that account, and get the number of another account (using the statements). Then you go to that second account and every time I've done it, it has had over 1,000,000 cr. Steal that and you can buy all the software, all the hardware and still have plenty left over. My first Bank 'theft' that I performed was like this, so I found that it was too easy and made the game too easy after that.

I'm proving you wrong. Uplink has no set release date. It will be released when it is done and not before then.
Is there any command that will allow me to bounce from all servers to my destination server? 'Cause it took me five minutes just to bounce off all the Internal Services servers and to the Apolla International Bank. Once I got through to Administration, the Trace Tracker was beeping wildly so I thought I was about to be traced again, but once I clicked Disconnect I found that I had 126 seconds left. Pisses me off.
It really did - literally - take me five minutes to bounce through al those, because I have to click extra hard and extra slow for the game to recognize that I'm selecting that server to bounce off. This is the largest bug I've found in Uplink; the interface does not accept quick mouse clicks. Also, when scrolling down a list (by pulling the bar down), and quickly letting go of the scroll bar, it usually selects one of the files or connections on the lists because I didn't let go in time... Very annoying...
God... I got cutoff again (yes, I've gone through two users since this topic started). Is there a time limit? I thought it depended on your rating?
And I was pretty bad. Just Novice, Neutral, and had a criminal record. I wasn't even in a mission. I was just fastforwarding... This is really starting to piss me off...
Yeah, there seems to be a time limit in the demo.

Unfortunately, there isn't. But, you might want to try creating a connection bounce through all of the Uplink servers, banks, LANs, etc (everything but the internal service machines), and then saving it. That way, when you next go on a mission, you can load the preset bounce pattern, and then merely route it through the few remaining servers to your target.

Keep forgetting about that save feature...
Couldn't I just route through all the servers on my list instead? Then save it?

The idea is that you want to leave the systems that you'll likely be hacking out of your saved route. Since you can't route through or to the same system twice, you won't be able to use a saved route that already passes through your target system.
I find that the systems you want to leave out change as you progress through the game. So analyze your current hacking patterns and adapt your saved route as necessary.
