We need some desktop pictures of Uplink. I'm hoping there will be some following the release of Uplink.
I downloaded the desktop from Introversion. Here's what it looks like: (url="http://"http://www.boomspeed.com/spacebetween/uplink_desktop.jpg")http://www.boomspeed...ink_desktop.jpg(/url) Didn't wanna screw up the size of the page, so there's the link.
Now, that's not too bad, but you can tell it was made for Winblows...
(edit) /me wants desktops, not screenshots. It's just an open suggestion hint to make sure we get something to go along with the game. shrug (/edit)

Here are the 5 Uplink intro screens. (note: if these aren't supposed to be here, say so and I will delete them.)

I know of at least four (maybe more) Uplink desktops. You have one of them.

I think they come with Uplink.

That's precisely what I wanted to hear. Thanks.

Don't blame me. Blame Canada.
I've always thought we should change it from "One nation under God" to "One nation under Canada." It's true, after all!

Not unless south=down. How 'bout one nation under the atmosphere?

That works too. I think 'under Canada' has a more potential for offending people though. And south equaling down is pretty common. 'Down south, up north,' etc.

That is (if you're intelligent) incorrect.
"Go up West Boulevard and you'll see the sign that says, "Shegai's". Those are supposed to be directions to a Sushi restaurant downtown. But, from my place, if you go "up" W. Blvd, you'll end up in the hills... But if you go north, you'll reach Shegai's...

Yes, but is generally accepted, especially on maps and between countries, that north is up and south is down. You don't say: "I'm going to go up to mexico." When you live in Michigan. Leave the poor horse's corpse alone.

According to your reasoning, down is south and up is north. So who would say "up to Mexico" if you're living in Michigan?
Bill Gates?
(I just had to do that.)

If Bill Gates had a non-job as a slacker in Michigan, and he got hired as a consultant for Mexico City, he would probably say that he was moving up (in the world), eh?
All this depends on what definition of up you are using. (Social up, Terran up, Solar up, System up, Venerian up, Galactic up, etc.) In the right position, you are moving Solar up from Michigan to Mexico.
There is no "up" in space.
You can, however, define a direction as up, based on some object. Terran up is away from Earth, wherever you are; Galactic up (for the Milky Way) is perpendicular to the plane of the galaxy in some direction (the other one is down); and all of these are valid definitions of "up". There is no one up anywhere, though some make more sense than others.
This is getting very off-topic, isn't it?
