I was curious...What happens to be your favorite hector in the game of Avara? I personally perfer the light hulled-hector, (make that a blue light hector ) since it is extremely fast, and can outmenuver a heavy hector anytime. Though it can't hold the firepower of the other hectors, its speed makes up for that.
So, what's your favorite hector, or which do you perfer?

Now I'm curious too...
My choice is probably also the light hull as well. The medium hull appeals to me sometimes, but not very often (in other words, almost never).
If we had to choose a colour, then I would have no preference on that matter.

Yes, that's the same way I am. If I don't have access to the light hull, the medium hull is as far as I'll usually go.
As for color I usually go with blue, since it's my favorite color, but I also use red pretty often for the darker worlds and for when I'm mad.
Even though I usually pick the light or sometimes the medium hull, it depends on the particular level being played. For example, when playing showdown, the heavy hector is also great, as it is in many other levels as well. And before someone flames me, I should mention that it depends on your personal playing style: some players like to move in for the kill quickly and move out just as quickly again, other like to move in, aim very carefully and unload a huge amount of grenades and missiles on their enemy.
Right, I think I've said enough now.

I perfectly agree with you, Robin...Your reasons sounded perfectly good to me. I usually perfer doing the "hit-and-run" kind of thing, but with some levels, where you're basically in a open arena, a heavy hector will do you good where firepower means everything.

I read somewhere (maybe someone else can jog my memory) that heavy hulls were ideal for KOTH levels. It's not hard to see why. They're strong, and have enough firepower to fend of many of your enemies at once.

Well sure, I have to agree that the heavy hulls are very suitable for some levels. I just usually perfer the lighter hulls and will use them every time unless I don't have acess to them. By the way, what does KOTH stand for?
Also, the light hectors also have the firepower to ward off enemies swiftly, it's just a matter of your supply of firepower...The heavy hectors can sustain long-term shoot-outs, where as the light hectors have to usually depend on their plasma cannons, since they run out of missiles and grenades fast.
I used to use light every game, no matter what. But now I'm more open to using Mediums. I never use Heavy's though, to slow and unmenuverible (that spelt right?) for my taste.

K ing O f T he H ill. They're the levels where you have to stay in the indicated spot for a designated amount of time (usually 100 seconds).

Oh, ok...I've never played those levels before. Sound pretty fun, though.
I prefer a light. Though sometimes I'll play in a medium to balance things out. It seems that varying things helps me to appreciate the different strengths and weaknesses and therefor play better. That and occassionaly going from a light to a medium gives you what seems like a huge amount of breathing room where grenade capacity is concerned. Who would have guessed that two grenades can mean so much? I like to use red hulls. Though green and purple hulls look better, red fits my name, Dies Irae (Day of Wrath).

Seems like most people prefer the light or medium hull, and I really can't blame them. Ok, lets change the subject a bit here:
What is everybody's favorite hector color?
As I've said before, mine is blue, though I use red when I'm mad.
Black, it fits my persona But when people complain, I change to purple, since it's the closest.

I've only actually played one once myself, but yes, they are fun.
Now, my favourite colour is probably red or green, but I can't decide. Like I said before, I don't really have a preference.
fav hull: Cyclops/Minoru Class Light in yellow (it a new hull shape made by me) (yeah, most of my hector and spaceship designs have long 2part names)
"Dreams are strange."
oh yeah, minoru..better change that name in the mod I gave it four missiles and four boosters, kick ass manuverability...I wanna know what the rest of the team thinks tho b4 I finalize it. -Ragnarok

Ragnarok, what are ya'll talking about?
Hey, guys! Geeze, been a while since I was ever near an Avara topic (including actually playing the game). Speaking of which, most of you ppl are old skool, and dont play anymore! Whats up? Lost yer game? Dont think this is a challenge to one of you. I cant play, cuz Im moving everything to a new G4! Might take a while... Ragnar's all on about a bsp he edited for Exo. Ragnar's into lvl design... and does a fine job! I'd prefer a Blue or Black Light Hull. Does anyone know what "Avara" means? I heard it means "wide open". Basically, so were the first lvls. Take the very first training lvl (seen at the top right when u start up Avara). It is what it is, wide open! I got this info from an interview with Juri Munkki on avara.org. I'll see ya guys later, bye! Please e-mail me at Ralek@avara.net.

Avara is Finnish for "wide open spaces".
I took a brief look at that level. Very wide open indeed.
