Ramble it may have been but it was a pretty accurate description of how I learned to use MASCOT and I expect the same applies to most of us. Trial and error - and mostly error at first.

I am thinking of that, and I just might be able to do it, but first I need to learn conversations and wind and doors and buttons and
blastable ground. Pretty much I need to learn the hard stuff, but that's what the MASCOT thingie that you guys posted on a while ago
is for.

I'll never forget, I was close to throwing my computer out a window when I started trying to test my first level. Every time I would play, Ferazel would fall through the floor. It took me like 3 days to find "Define FG tiles"

Ooooh... I hated that problem.

BTW, what do the weird spells do that are on Ferazedit? And how do you enter the info fields for spells?

You enter them in info(0):

0: fireball
1: statue
2: ice wall
3: ice wall
4: tree
5: boomerang
6: vblade

#2 and 3 are different:

2. Ice Crystals (Attack Only)
3. Ice Wall (Attack and Platforms)

and there are more:
7. Ice Wall
8. Density Ball
9. Sandstorm
10. Energy Ball
11. Ice Shards

7-11 do not work but will appear in Ferazel's inventory.

Hmmmmm.... Could you give me a tutorial on conversations? The read-me stinks. Even my dad (sprint) has trouble making sense of it.

All right. Here goes nothing.

First, from the world menu, "Select/Edit Conversation" Now pick any number. Ben started his at 200. Just type in 200.

By the way, you should view a Conversation in a 1024 x 768 screen. Now open the sprites file in ResEdit and find the ID 3999. You will see some sprite ID's. To the upper left part of the screen, you will find two boxes. In the first box, type in the name of a person. In the second boss, type in the picture of the person. Example: If you want to do Ferazel, you would type in 4001.

Okay, now you can type in what you want the person to say in the first big box. Then you can type in what you want someone to say in the next box and so on. To end a Conversation, you would find the last thing that you want someone to say, then to the right of it is a thing that says "Edit". Now you would find the last thing that would say "then goto line", and you would put 20 or any number above it. I hope that helped!

I've tried to put together in an understandable format all the information on conversations that I've gleaned from the web boards and from trial and error. If you want to look at it and see if it is any use to you, you can get it at (url="http://"http://www.toolan.com/enfield/converse.html")Conversations(/url) or alternatively you can go through (url="http://"http://www.enfield-uk.co.uk")CyberGran's Website(/url)

THANK YOU. That really helped me. Just one question, though: how do you place the conversations, and by that I mean associating
them with the picture you set down. Okay, two questions. What is the Res ID?

If you open the sprites file with ResEdit, you can see all the faces. Underneath is the Res (Resource) ID. Put this where it says "pic" (I think) in the edit conversations window. Aschaaf has a list of the IDs on his website somewhere for a quick reference (I can't find the link anymore, it was in these boards somewhere). I also have a list on my computer, and will be adding it to the MASCOT guide I'm working on.

I don't know what you mean by your other question Although try placing the sprite (use the objects menu and select a character), and then type in the ID of your conversation in the sprite's info field (0). Associating with the picture? If you want a custom picture, you add it to the sprites file and give it a unique ID. Then put the ID in the edit conversation box.
