I'm a bit confused so correct me if I'm wrong :
Since Decembre 2003, Coldstone is out of the ASW catalogue due to bugs on OSX version. An Ambrosia intern (named here as Carmelisa Valeria) has been working on the update (but not only, as some mesages from her let us think that she was also answering for lost codes service). She's maybe not working anymore on it (as Pilky saw on some site thet her contract would end mid-may) and hasn't been contacted by anyone here since weeks... Meanwhile, Beenox is launching its new website and soon, put CS in the Vintage section...
Anyone with good news ?

You want good news. I have good news. I posted in the Help on the Way forum about any info on the update and David Dunham has replied saying that the update is being actively worked on.
And when I said Beenox giving the code to someone else I meant if Ambrosia are unable to carry on developing it after the update. I'm sure that if they can't then they'll either hire someone or find someone to develop it. I doubt they'll want to let it stagnate again.

Hi guys, Sorry, but you mentioned here that Coldstone doesn't run on Panther. I've just downloaded demo and at least it launches and seems to be working. Could anybody explain what is wrong with Coldstone on Panther? Thanks in advance.
Hi romantikc p. m. Welcome to the boards. Users report that the game engine seems to run fine on Panther, but any game built with Coldstone will crash on startup when played on Panther. The most commonly reported phenomenon is a black screen with no graphics.
I guess that would be okay if the player were blind and couldn't see the screen anyway.

It's not a bug, It's a new feature added only for Panther users. It's designed to show you how well Panther can handle individual program crashes.

the game engine is the approx. 1mb module that is copied and minimally configured to process the data created/compiled by the editor. -the editor runs fine -the engine does not

Thank you, ellrx, for the clarification. You obviously know more about how it works (or doesn't) than I do. ~RD
...i look forward to the obsoletion of my knowledge.
Another thing: the editor was made in RealBasic. The engine was made in C++. This might have something to do with it.
And also, it is a white screen that appears when running PoG on Panther. After that nothing happens. There is no sound or possibility of movement. Behaviour with other games might differ. =LK

Thank you for clarification. I hope one day we'll have an OS that doesn't break programms which ran fine on previous systems.
It is actually more Beenox's fault than Apples. Only those apps that are not coded properly should have broke, or those that used features of Jaguar that aren't in Panther. AFAIK the OSX engine was a rushed job and it wasn't done that well. That is why most of the problems with games are on OSX. I would suspect that the problem with the windows engine are similar. There are also problems with the editor in OSX but that is because 3.5 was one of the first versions of RealBasic that compiled for OSX
