.PNG Problems/32(24)bit picts

Hey i'm using photoshop 5.0

Any way it's not that my pngs are appearing slightly darker, i've learned to cope with that... ( (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/ellrx")my website(/url) suffers from this problem, and the color is interpretted differently in almost every browser)
but my pngs are showing up next to black, the only visible detail is the once carolina blue window rendered a smokey ash,
and this is when using a completely white/ non-transparent alpha mask.

16bit pict files are not an option they lose too much color/depth/smoothness.
I'm betting that selecting the 'true colors' option would remedy this error,
i'd test it but currently i'm still in the concept stage
(sketches,flow charts and schematics)
and i don't have the time to back track and test it out.

Check the calibration of your monitor and of Photoshop itself - I'm guessing that somewhere the file is getting given the wrong gamma settings.

You would think that - but I still have problems w/ true colors in CS. You can select it just fine now (that was an issue in 1.0), but the game still looks like it's running in 16 bit color.

Doh.

But then, I've been known to make mistakes, maybe this is one of them. 😉

P.S.
(url="http://"http://jankostar.net/outer_space/example.jpg")Here(/url) is an example of what I'm talking about - on the left is a picture of the game running and the right shows the 32 bit .pct opened on coldstone. Oh, and the picture is just a crappy starting screen I made as a stand in until our artist can get to making the real one. 🙂

All of this is a real killer when you're building a dark atmosphere/ambience,
I'm using maroon, blues and greys there's really no reason why it should completely black out, i'll try true colors which isn't actually 32bit, it's really more like 24, and i believe that's why you image retains at least a shread of it's appearance, especially in the button objects.

I'll set it to true colors
and attempt to syncronize my monitor/'Shops's settings and see what happens.
Either way this is a technical issue in coldstone that should be addressed, during the next beta period, that and maybe font faces.

::siren goes off::
Got it to work,
My ghostly first level, did he say level?? ?? now looks smooth and flawless as a, pict file unfortunately...
after setting it to true colors, as for the photo shop issues i'll be doing so copy and paste(layers then channels) from PhotoShop and Graphic Converter until i can get the proper calibration worked out.

I agree. I am assuming that by the time I ever get around to releaseing my first game that these issues will have been addressed.

So based on that timeline Beenox has plenty of time to work on it...mainly cause I'm a lazy sod and any game I release is quite far off. 😄

Yep, this ol' bug is still around - it's supposed to be one of the things that will be fixed in 1.0.2. (Yes, 1.0.2 - 1.0.1 was supposed to be just a stopgap release to fix the most egregrious bugs such as system crashes, to be followed soon by 1.0.2 to fix the rest of 'em. Too bad Dee seems to have disappeared from the radar screen once again...)

I was just wondering -

If we register during 1.0.1, will we have to during 1.0.2 again and pay 49$ again?

I think no, but just making sure.

Actually, I would expect a $79 upgrade fee. Which is really pretty reasonable. 😄

Okay, I just wanted to scare you. I'm not an authority, but X.0.X releases are generally free. Don't worry about it...as long as all they are doing is fixing bugs with an updates - don't expect to pay for it.
