Yep, all five monitors that I regularly use are fuzzy when I try to view PDFs - but not when I use Word, SimpleText, Pagemaker, FileMaker, AppleWorks,Photoshop,ResEdit, Eudora, Bulk Mailer, and a number of other applications. Coincidence, I guess 🙂

Okay maybe your computer or program works differently than mine, but I get absolutely no blur when I read these things. I made a small experiment. I opened a PDF and zoomed to 150x, my preferred zoom. (BTW, this can be done in 3 seconds if you're willing to use the keyboard) No blur, the words are clear. I zoom in at increments of 50x, until I get to 500x. No blur. I then go by 500x unti I reach the max, 1600x. No blur. Sure, the letters are the size of a chicken egg, but there is no blur. It may be different with your program. For the record, I used Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0, running under OS 9.

Acrobat Reader also works great for me. I don't see what the big deal is. Yes, I have to manually set the zoom once each time I open a docment, but as Celchu says, it takes three seconds and then you're good to go.

One thing to note if you are going to create a pdf document: Since people will be adjusting the document to their preferred zoom size anyway, you will get better results if you use a PostScript font instead of a bitstream or TrueType font. This is because PostScript fonts are designed to maintain their shape not matter what the size. The downside to this is that it's much harder to find free PS fonts than other font types. Personally, I think it's worth shelling out a little coin to get a CD full of PS fonts that I know will look good at any size and on any medium (print or screen).

Jeez, am I the only one who doesn't zoom in when they read PDFs? I always have it set to 50%, that way I can fit the entire page onto one screen. This mainly because my computer is reeeeaaallly ssslllloooow and scrolls at a drunken snail's pace.

Peace.
