1. A game where you are a helocopter and you have to beat farious levels filled with enemy helocopters, tanks, anti-aircraft guns, and planes.
2. A space game where you are a gunship and you have to beat farious levels filled with other enemy spacecrafts. And you advance in ship class as you go.
3. A game where you are a tank, and you are in a big arena. And you have to destroy all of the other tanks in the arena. There are also bunkers where you can hide and repair yourself. And once you gain enough points you can buy a different tank.
I hope I will be able to make at least one of them. I haven't worked out the details yet. I'll have to see Coldstone and what you can do with it before I do.

Hrm, I moved this from the newswire because it didn't really belong there, but I guess it wasn't the smoothest of moves. This'll bring it to the top though.

These games sound more like real-time strategygames. A bit like the old Cannon Fodder.
They are alsopreety unimaginative.

Hey they are only the very basic ideas. And these are my first games! Don't expect them to be super cool and interesting.

Wow, those all kinda sound like the same game. I would develop the space one, if I were you. That one sounds the most interesting and the least beaten to death by commercial gamemakers.

Finally, a piece of usful information!
Hmm...
Sorry, thought I'd reply to this (although I am a complete newbie!).
Seems most game ideas have been beaten to a pulp by everyone. I DARE someone to tell me they've thought up a COMPLETELY NEW kind of game plan.
If someone says they have, they are either:
I did do an RPG a long time ago. I just now wanna move away from RPG Maker 95 and 2000...
BTW My old RPG is now extinct. I committed euthanasia on it! Never really accepted anyway...

Forget originality, all that matters is the fun factor.

Yeah, but why waste your time on a game that's already been done?

To do it better.
On the note of originality, can you even count how many sports games there? And yet, they sell like hotcakes.
originality in a game leads to fun (if the game is made well). part of the fun of a lot of games is that they put you in a situation you've never experienced before (I mean really: how many of you are overweight Itallian plumbers?). It's always exciting to do something for the first time. So, by making your game different in some way you can add a lot of enjoyment to it. No matter how well you make a game, if it's been done before, it'll show. Look at the Tomb Raider series: good products, but... They're all the same game. The only changes are that Lara Croft gets a larger endowment in each edition and the polygon count goes up a little to match processor speeds. That's why the franchise is moving into theaters. Eventually, no matter how much flashieness they add to Tomb Raider it will be a little less exciting to kill another over-aggressive endangered animal with each installment.

What , the least beaten to death...arte you crazy , thereare countless space games, and quite frankly are the easiest to make the only thing that would possibly be unique about it would be the name...talk about your formulaic game play. Just because it's an "rpg" won't save it from becoming one of the faceless "space games".

Sure, originality adds merit, but I was just addressing the point that it isn't EVERYTHING. Every Madden game is just the same with the new year's stats and a few bonuses, but no console would dare launch without EA under their belt. It's fun factor that sells, not the idea.
sequels always sell good in the world of video games(diablo2, baldur's gate2, warcraft2, and warcraft3 WILL sell good). it's interesting how this doesn't apply to movies.. I mean Speed2?
I think this has been said before, but it's almost impossible for something to be totally original.. so why try? just make it what you want it to be, and the people out there that are like you will love the game.

We all know what you said is true...but face it space games besides hop and bop are the oldest genre. In the beginning there was....gallaga and donkeykong .
I might make an underwater game too. I haven't seen much of those around.
P.S. I'll be gone for 3 weeks on vacaion. So I won't be able to check up on this much if not at all. So c-ya!
