I am thinking about creating a pop-pop.. the missing manual type site. With references, explanations of pops, how to win.. etc.. It might be nice if I could use the pop-pop font for headers. Anyone know what it is? Was it custom made? Would I be breaking some sort of copyright if I used graphics from the game on the page? Thanks for any help

Do you mean the logo font or the font used for the in-game text? The logo was probably custom-made. I'm not sure if they're completely identical, but there is a font called Slider that looks very similar, and can be found on (url="http://"http://www.unet.univie.ac.at/~a8612692/trekfont.htm")this page(/url). You'll need a conversion program to convert it to Mac format. I suggest (url="http://"http://www.ngenious.com/signaturefactory/ttconverter.htm")ttconverter(/url), a freeware utility for the Classic Mac OS.

doesnt it say not to use images somewhere on the sign up page?
and its not acutally in his signature, hes putting it in at the end of his post, acting like its a sig. notice there isnt a ------------ over the image.

Doesn't seem that similar to me That's ok though, I am thinking about just having each section looking like a chat window. Last time I checked, the font was fairly. But if anyone knows the specific font, that'd help.

Was this directed to me? The sign up page was the generic one. I never even saw the web board guidelines until I noticed after using the board. But even that doesn't say anything. I didn't know it was annoying anyone, I stopped anyways. Kind of how you were using that huge sig on MacNN when they specifically listed the requirements right in the place where you entered the code? Hmm..

OK, I apologize, I meant it didn't look like the logo font.. It -is- the font used in the game.. pixel for pixel Thanks for the help. I'll get a mockup of the site here soon.. if you guys like it I'll write up some content.
OK, what do you guys (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/phobosdownloads/pop-pop/")think(/url)?
I think that I got it backwards, that the background color should be darker than the dark blue of the logo. I'll try it out. Any suggestions?
hello Synotic,
the logo font for pop is custom art. the in game text > 12 pt is Handel Gothic. the in game text <= 12 is the old mac standby, Geneva.

Looks good. I was thinking of putting some pop-pop info on (url="http://"http://www.evula.com/")my site,(/url) but I doubt I have the time.

OK, thanks, Handel Gothic.. right on the money. I was able to just find the regular variation, but that's all I need.
Has anyone accidentally had 2 PSD documents for one site and one is CMYK and the other RGB? Grrr :frown: There's no way to change them while making them look the same. Oh well.. it isn't that hard, it'll take me one minute to redo the chat screen/news entry since it's primarily layer effects and then a shape.. The new background color is much nicer. I'll start worknig on content afterwards. Anyone can send me an e-mail at (url="http://"mailto:synotic@mac.com")mailto:synotic@mac.com(/url)synotic@mac.com
(url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/phobosdownloads/pop-pop2/")Better(/url) or worse? The older link still works for comparison. It uses a darker background, Handel Gothic (just a tiny bit more bold now) and all the text in the entry is bolded as opposed to just the titles. I think it makes it look more like the game now.

ooh, hey, cool site. I like it. Make sure you submit it to the pop-pop weblinks page when it is done:

If you're looking for good webspace cheap, seriously look into Source Cod. You get a yourname.sourcecod.com address, plus:
_500MB disk space Perl 5.6.1 PHP 4.2.1 MySQL 3.23.49 Apache 1.3.26 POP3 email account (yourname@sourcecod.com), mail forwarding available Full suite of utilities installed for running IRC bots, compiling programs, etc. Logons by SSH for your security, FTP access also available Daily data backups for peace of mind
All served on a commercial line (fractional T1 equivalent) with FreeBSD 4.5._
All of that for only $50/year or $5/month. Source Cod is better than mac.com is almost every way. In fact, unless $5 a month or $50 a year is too much for you (seems like mac.com is starting to cost that much anyway), I don't see why you shouldn't seriously consider switching. With 500MB of storage I highly doubt you'll run out of space. For example, on my (url="http://"http://pikeman.sourcecod.com")Source Cod account(/url), I have almost 70 mp3's up, along with about 500 high quality jpeg images and a whole slew of other things, and I'm not even close to running out of room.
And besides, the owner and operator of Source Cod moderates Just Tech here with me, and his name is oasamostexianu, so if you get a Cod account he might just give you karma.
Oh, and very spiffy site. Perhaps when my pop-pop song is done, you can put it up as a monument to people who take games too seriously, like you and me.
You know, a SourceCod site would be supercool... (Note: This is NOT a suck up attempt :D) Pikeman - you say 5$ a month or 50$ a year... I think I could do that... If I want one what would be the first thing to do?

e-mail oasa at ben@sourcecod.com and tell him you want a Source Cod account. It's that simple. He'll have it up and running for you in no time, even before you pay. It's like shareware hosting, try before you buy.
Note: He does NOT keep it on for free, you wankers.
Pikeman does the Cod dance
Well, I will soon be a poor child after the purchase of my iBook, which is still about 3 months away... So I'd better hold off for now. If I do $5 a month how do I pay him, vs. $50 a year? Acccchhh, I need a credit card - 2 month and 20 some odd days.... you can get one at 18, correct?
I can take payment by personal check, money order or PayPal. Drop me an email if you've got questions.

Hehe... accidentally clicked reply... Tis ok - my iBook is one month away I mean.
And does anybody know the "legal" age for having a credit card in the USA? I know that people have gotten them for their dogs just to see if they could, but I mean, I don't want to have a giant blur on my credit history of I get one before I should and someone finds out.
A half an hour of Askjeeves, Visa.com, Mastercard.com and a few other sites turned up nothing.

One more thing, I've heard it said, "PayPal is Satan" and I was wondering, is it the dark lord himself or was this simply a figment of someone's imagination?
