The font is called ITC Avant Garde Gothic. I don't believe it came standard; my dad probably installed it for his work. I actually just randomly picked that font while I was typing the text just so I could make sure it would fit onscreen right. I set the verticle scale of the letters to 50%, and then realized that it looked pretty cool, so I kept that font.

Really? Hmm...I wasn't sure how the effects I did on the text would go over. To me, it looks better, since it blends better with the background and makes it a little (but not enough to make it a non-prominent part of the image, as that would break the guidelines :)) more subtle.
Matrix perhaps you should try centering the large text , just an idea. It looks great as it is , and the other submissions too.

Actually, I think it looks better how it is. Doing that would draw too much attention away from the Constitution (damn that's an annoying word to write :p).
I think I'm the only one who didn't use the Constitution. It wasn't so much originality (though that did occur to me) as the fact it was in a nebula and in order for it to work right, it would have to be the only ship on there, and I wanted three. Yes, three. I don't know why, I just did.
Anyhow, the finished product is far from the original intent (on the left, a cube like the one on the top of this page with clippings of info dialog pictures, and next to it, the words "Starfleet Adventures" and possibly some slogan. I couldn't get it to work right because Photoshop's 3D Renderer was being a bitch, and AppleWorks's Add Perspective was hard to work with as well). In the middle, I tried a number of things, including attempting to make a nebula fade into space (and failed, I'll add :p). Eventually, I gave up in favor of just regular space, and it came out great.
Most of the stars in the middle are duplicated spots from random parts of the side images, toyed with in various ways.

Not having the black background is fine since I'm just wrapping the banner in a border anyways. You don't have to rework it to get the background black (unless you want to submit another entry).
Emporer Cary: Could you please email me your banner after all? There has been some trouble with the host for the site and I lost all the banners I uploaded. Everyone's banner that was put on web forums I've redownloaded, but yours doesn't seem to be up anymore.

What do you mean, two-timing? All I did was make a banner using a free font, the info pics from the Alpha SFA build from Christmas, and AppleWorks...
