I guess i am kinda dumb but i have another question can you find a resedit for OS X somewhere? I need to edit some EVN files but the versiton i have wont work on X Help Me!
------------------ Good luck captain...
sorry, but no. There is no OS X res edit. Although that would be cool.
There was some kind of OS X EVN editing program though. I dont remember what it was. Being an OS X user, I usually just run res-edit in classic.

I'm curious: how does the Resource Manager in OSX work? I was under the impression that there were NO resources, but it would appear that there are (or EVN wouldn't work!). Does it basically handle them the same way that previous OS's have?

ResEdit (along with Nova Tools) works perfectly for me in classic mode.
------------------ Hard work never killed anybody, but why take a chance? -Edgar Bergen
Although that point is moot, considering Apple is beginning to phase out classic support.
No one's forcing you to upgrade your OS to something that doesn't support Classic
Besides, I bet the next version of OS X will still support Classic mode. No OS 9 booting on any new machines, of course, and I'm sure they'll eventually stop shipping OS 9 at all (if you want to run Classic mode, you'll have to find a copy of OS 9 somewhere). Anyway, I guess we'll just have to wait for the preview at WWDC in a few days to find out what the real deal is.

Resources are just as present as ever in Mac OS X - in fact, the Mac OS X Resource Manager is faster and more flexible than the old one, and supports a few new modes of resource delivery, at least one of which is compatible with UNIX- and Windows-format disks that don't have built-in support for resources.
The myth that Mac OS X has no resources stems from the fact that certain types of Mac OS X-native applications (mostly ones that use the NeXT-derived 'Cocoa' frameworks) do not require any resources.
As far as resource editing goes, Apple has never released a Mac OS X-native version of ResEdit, although the commercial (read expensive) Resorcerer editor is available for Mac OS X. I don't know whether Apple's engineers have a native resource editor working internally, use Resorcerer, or are stuck using ResEdit in Classic like the rest of us, but at the moment those are the only solutions unless you use a special-purpose EV editor.

What exactly is this Ressourcer? Could it be used instead of ResEdit? Is it a more complex, OSX native, ressource edditor that simply is no longer free?

It'll probably help if you spell it correctly. Here is it's home page:
(url="http://"http://www.mathemaesthetics.com/ResorcererIndex.html")Resorcerer(/url)
It does not support NovaTools, although you can use ResEdit style templates (TMPLs) with it.

Thanks. I wasn't coming up with much on my spelling. I did get some really weird pages over at apple though. Looked like an english/dutch hybrid or something.
Anyway, just supporting the templates will be more than sufficient. Novatools is convenient and very helpfull, but... I sort of enjoy looking at things directly the way they are.
