problem with a mission

Okay,
I want to make a mission which grant you 200 points to your legal statut, and then remove these points after a month.
I can get the first mission (grant the bonus) and the cron (for waiting a month) work, but not the one which should remove the bonus.

Could someone explain me how i could do it ?

I tried to make an auto-abord mission, started by the cron, it didn't work.
My second try was a mission started at the end of the first one, and aborded by the cron.
None of 'em worked.

Now, i don't really know how to do that, i can rework this string, if needed.

There's a way to set one of the reward fields in the mďsn:

There's a fail command (Fxxx) but i can't get it to work... :frown:

That's what i want to do:
You get a legal record bonus, which is removed after one game month.

I tried what you said, but it didn't worked.

finished Bible-searching

There's a flag in the mďsn resource (0x0040) which takes away 5x Compreward on abort. So, if you set a crön for one month, then set the mďsn to happen at 100% after the crön expires (use the OnEnd field to set a bit to make the mďsn start..), give the CompGovt that you want it to take away from, then set CompReward to 40 (5x40=200), it -should- work. Unfortunately, I can't test this because I don't know how to work the dang crön resource.

I'll pick it up again, and see what I can do. It'd be much easier if Nova would've applied the CompReward within the payment on auto-abort flag.

You could always just have mission B be a text only inconspicuous type deal- like a text box that appears to remind the player of something, but actually scruns their government reward, and when they unknowingly don't go to wherever they need to, the mission fails and the compreward slap is administered. Of course, this might confuse him or her, so you could just make the mission invisible.

Yup. I don't care at how and when the mission start and end, but i'd like it to automaticly remove the bonus.

There are some differences between a mission that terminates because it was auto-aborted, a mission that terminates because the Axxx command was used, a mission that terminates because the Fxxx command was used, a mission that terminates because the player manually aborted it, and a mission that terminates because the player failed it... I don't have my notes in front of me, but one of them may well be a difference in deciding whether or not government rewards should be applied.

If you fail a mission, it should remove half the CompReward..

Did you try:
1. Mission A adds the 200 points, then uses Sxxx to start the second mission.
2. Mission B has a time limit of 30 days (or whatever..). It's also invisible, and has a CompReward of twice A's (400, in this case).
3. Give Mission B an unfullfillable goal- e.g. make the player land in a system they have no access to, etc.
4. Since the mission is invisible (player won't be trying to complete it) and unfullfillable (they can't complete it accidentally), the player will fail at the end of the time limit.
5. At fail, half of the CompReward of 400 is removed, resulting in the desired loss of 200.

I think this would work, but I haven't tested it..

Okay, well, my plugin has a slightly different effect, but is more or less the same problem.

What I did was create an outfit, and when you purchase it, it raises (or even clears, I tried a few things with that) the standing with a particular government, with a mission or by granting a fake ID. However, when you sell it, it attempted to revoke that standing. I did this by starting and failing a mission in the same expression. I wasn't sure if this would work, so I also tried failing or aborting it with a very small (0 or 1 day) duration cron. This was required because selling the outfit had an immediate effect, quite often in the same system.

I also had the mission visible, for debugging purposes, but that shouldn't have made a difference. I'll be able to sit down and figure something out in a day or so, but of course any suggestions are worth a shot.

I'll try it. But i always see a message telling that the mission failed, when the time limit is exceeded. Would this message appear if the mission is invisible ?

I'm speaking of the "mission failed" text at the bottom of the screen. The Onfail text can be easily skipped (just set the id to 0 or -1).

Stupid OnFail text. Not to go off topic here, but I thought OnFail was supposed to be fixed in 1.0.5. It doesn't appear to have been. Any new word on this ever being fixed (I know unlikely since 1.0.5 is supposed to be the final cut, or how to get it to work? I've already read all the previous topics on this so if there's been no new developments don't worry about it. Post to the topic at hand.
