OK, my copy of Infini-D seems to be kicking the bucket.. whenever I start it up, it says there's another copy of Infini-D running on my computer and refuses to open. Anyone have any idea how to fix this, or, even better, know where I could find a copy of Infini-D 4.5?

Are you networked to another machine that has ID4 running? If so, that's the problem; some programs can tell that there are other versions of itself running with the same serial number, and will refuse to run. Either disconnect from the network or kill ID4 on the other machine.

No, i'm not on a network or anything.. sometimes if i use certain programs before opening infini-d it works, but i use so many different programs i don't really know what program fixes it or what makes it stop working.
I even installed infini-d with two different serial numbers. Nothin'.
I've had the same problem in the past, although it was really just a screw-up through updating from OS 9 to X. I had to find me a different registration code since I couldn't find the one it came with.
I can send you 4.5 if you've got a legitimate copy of your current version (i.e. not pirated ;)).

My dad got it from his university, when he was working for the university... does that count as legit?

Certainly sounds like it. I just don't wanna be promoting any software pirates around here. I just wish that my own copy came in a real box 'cause I never quite confirmed if mine was fully legit or not. :frown: People these days say one thing and do another, even when they're "giving" you software they no longer want. . .
Honestly I think Infini-D should be counted as abandonware.. it's not supported and the company that made it is gone, as is the company that bought them out.. it's like a 3rd generation abandonware thing.
are you going to send me a CD or over the 'net? i'd really prefer a CD, as i only have 56k and it's probably a very big download..

Yes, it should be abandonware, but just for safety's sake... it's nice to have a copy with a legal background.
Drat, I don't have a CD burner... couldn't do it that way. The only way it'd work for me is via the net.

d'you have a friend with a CD burner? or at school (are you even still in school??) or maybe you could make it a segmented stuffit archive so i can download parts.. a 600 or so megabyte download will make my dad want to kill me

Infini-D 4.5 stuffed is about 17 megs if I remember correctly. That still too large?
Aye, that's just it - I have no real Infini-D CD. That's why I have my doubts regarding how legitimate it is. If I did have a copy, I'd certainly send it to you.

Piracy is indeed something I avoid at all costs. I think I'm going to go ahead and just buy a copy of Infini-D 4.5 if I can ever find it - I don't want to run the risk of possibly making graphics for commercial purposes only to find out that my software was pirated.

I'm worried, but I know I'll do fine, if I can do some bloddy textures that dont look like $hit....

Yeah, I'll try to do that before the end of this week. I won't have access to Infini-D for much longer (my G4 was suppost to go out the door last week, but I've got it for a while longer after all) so I won't have much choice but to do it soon. I'll e-mail you a download link once it's ready.
