Graphics Guy

I'm looking for a graphics person willing to make lots of little graphics for little plugs (a ship or two per plug mainly).

I am currently in need of a Pirate Lightning.

To help out, either email me ( webmaster@nztuatara.com ) or post a reply in this topic.

heh...wow...Maya AND Lightwave? You kiddies make these professional in-depth tools sound like drawing in Kidpix. I tell you, whether you purchase (unlikely) or pirate the software, it's not gonna do you any good what-so-ever because even the most experienced 3D artists have to sit down and learn the tool for, perhaps months at a time... It's not like sitting down and tinker till you get it right... these sorts of tools don't work that way...

PEACE YO! damn...another wasted breath

Hear hear! good graphics aren't created simply based off the price of the program. Of course, such things help in the long run, but otherwise, simpler progams can be just as, if not more usefull than the more expensive ones. Unless you already have about a year or so's worth of experience, Lightwave / Maya will take you more than 2 or 3 months to get to the point of any reasonable graphics. It took me a year to get where I am now; I'd only suggest a program of that magnitude if you are seriously considering doing Computer graphics as a profession.

I'd put my hand in the fire on that one... I've always found the number of LW (a program worth more than 1000$!) 'licencees' in this community quite disproportionate considering the size of the community, and most of all, the average age of the members pretending to own a legit copy.

We cannot be sure, but talking about 'getting Maya and Lightwave' as if it were trading cards is a very strong indication that he is either very rich (and a wee bit crazy :p) or that he is getting it for free - ie. warez. This makes me quite upset, because although I have used pirated software in the past, I have paid it dearly (oh yes I have - think 'police razzia at a LAN party :p'), I had to save money for quite some time before I could get my own version of Lightwave 6.5.

Um, yeah man. Buying two high-end programs to make graphics for non-mainstream plug-ins for a Mac, sprite-based program, an activity which you can make no profit from, doesn't sound like a decision anyone who has to manage his own budget would make, even if he gets 60$ an hour -anyway, what studio/graphics company do you work for yomcat? 60 bucks an hour is loads....

I don't know if you use pirated software or not, in fact I don't care. But the way you were talking about getting these two programs sounded odd to me. Sorry if Im wrong.

This a simple 2D Pirate Lighting, nice paint job, no light cannons, three Heavy blasters, one 100mm rail gun, three Radar missile launchers plus-30 ammo etc.

Oh, don't worry about it. NSA man is trying to give you a hacked pilot file. He doesn't understand that nobody cares. As for your graphics, are you just looking for a re-colored ship or a re-designed ship?

Granted these 3d programs are a bit complicated to figure out. I've been using Strata for just a couple of weeks now and I think I'm picking it up pretty quickly. The above jpg is where I am so far. It obviously needs more work but it's coming along nicely I think.
