I checked ito it, sorry for the delay. You can only swap systs. syst vhave a "visbit" string simply put each syst will only be visiible if its visbits are set you can use this to toggle from one system to another using a not statement. and yess I am refering to mission bits.
As for which bits are used, the EVN bible include a text file called "EVN_Bits_Bible.txt" it list all control bits in Nova and what mission they are used for. make sure you have the most recent copy since I belive they changed a little bit from EVN 1.0.0 to 1.0.1

ok, but how do you make it swap them? does this have something to do with mission bits?
my real question is, how do you choose which bits to use for your mission... i'm just not sure which are unused or not. is there an easy way to tell?

Stuff Updated
Hello. In case you don't know yet I am Kyle Phaneuf and I'm doing the Bounty Hunter Guild extension.
I'm just curious; how many missions are we planning to make? I just want to know how long some of your strings are going to be.

Hey Kyle, I'm Theodor Zimmerman and I'm doing the Pyrogenesis/LPAD string. It's a relatively short one, only 5 missions.
Compared to mine which will have 30-40 missions. Can I add a couple of stations and a couple of weapons?
------------------ Why not?
Afterblast, which string are you doing? I assume it's a major one...
I'm doing the Nilk'kemoya string.
Stuff Happens. Nothing to worry about, I just forgot who Afterblast is (ie your name) so I was concerened I might have double assigned a mission string.
No problems as for # of missions....... Nova supports up to 1000 missions....... Therefore I see no problem with slowly expandin Nova with lots of new plotlines crossovers and other intrigue.
I'd love to get people to do the remaining 3 houses, a pure Aurron, Houseless, Mauraduers, the other pirate groups, to make Nova as full adn exciting a game a possible.
P.S. The first post is/will be continually updated as information changes, it lists a summary of the plug as well as all of the contributers.

Why don't you put the screen names of everyone on your begining post? Also what do you want us to have next? A mission list or just work on it until we have our betas and if I create a new ship can we put it in the plug?
Any new stations/planets/ships/outfits etc. must be cleared by me. Afterblast: send me an outline of what you want to add and why.
I don't itendto only allow the player to acces the new technology. I will be slightly altering the exsisting ship variants so that most if not all of the new tech is used by the dudes. As such plot developers can recomend specific changes to the esisting variants. This get particulary interesting as each House is only going to get one or two of the six new outfits that thier society has access to. Who gets what has not been decided.
As for coding, tomorrow I shal turn my itools account into a ftp site. After you have claimed the appropriate missions ids, bits etc. you can start working on your spect of the plug. I will test any partial plug posted on my iToold account, and integrate all of the partials into the finished product. My betas will also be alailable for you guys to look at/test.

I'm finally back from China, and I really didn't do all that much EV:N thinking while there (not enough time). The problem for me seems to be twofold: writers block, which I expect to over come within a week, and ignorance of how to use ResEdit, which will take longer to overcome than the former. I've read the Bible through once or twice, but I'm still not sure how to use ResEdit. How does one set the individual flags that are explained in the Bible? I recall hearing something about Templates, but more explanation would be wonderful. Thanks.
P.S. What do the random lines of gibberish mean on the right column of data bits in Nova files? Are they just the translations of flags set?

Get NovaTools. You can get it here: (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/nguttman/NovaTools.sit")http://homepage.mac....n/NovaTools.sit(/url)
Once you have installed it in ResEdit (don't worry there are instructions) It will help a great deal. If you have any specfic questions, feel free to e-mail me.

That file downloads ok but it says that it's only 1 kb or something and "does not appear to be compressed or encoded." am I doing something drastically wrong?
