Ok, after reading Wyvern's whining (I don't like being critical, as you know, but it's true), I decided to see what everyone thinks. This post is not for endless pages of babble, it's to vote. I like angled sprites, as long as they aren't too angled. EV3's ships are just about right for me.

Top down. But, since most sprites are rendered from models, can't people easily distribute both?
Angled so long as it's 45ş. Too many use 60ş and that messes up your direction..

Apologies regarding the vote, but I had to point this out.
I prefer angled WHEN it has a simple rotation to it. Not one of those wierd strange rotate here and there kinda stuff.

definately top-down. Nothing else looks right in an engine like EV's, the stars are not on an angle, so the ship get out of sync. EV Nova should change this, though What If's sprites are staying top-down.
Top-down. Angled looks better on a purely aesthetic basis, and can be done so it points in the right direction even in EV/O (my own method), but makes it so that the spin seems to spin faster at some points and more slowly at others.
Thus, my vote's for top-down, unless EV3 has an angle resource.

Correction. Make that one (1) vote for top down. I tried a fixed angled view, and the rotation looked rather funky, plus it still doesn't fit exactly with x and y weapon offsets.
