A few tips on webdesign that should be very easy to implement:
(1) Use only a few colours. For example, with your site, use a black background with blues and greens in the foreground. The white really screws the effect up.
(2) Don't use images where they aren't necessary, and
(3) Place links to pages once they are completed (i.e. don't link to the progress log until it's there).
The plug does look very good though.

Basically, what everyone else said. I'd ditch the frames; it causes clutter that doesn't need to occur, and messes with your otherwise pretty nifty Catalyst logo.

Personally, I like the white; it's not used in many computer-esque web sites, and it's easier on the eyes than black. (coughcough EVula coughcough ) However, you had better pick a couple of colors and go with them; for example, a good theme would be white, the blue you use on your tables, and perhaps a shade of gray. The green should be expunged as soon as possible.

At some point in the future, once PHP is used on the entire site, I'd like to implement a feature so that people can choose what everything looks like. That's FAR in the future at this point, though, as re-doing -all- of the HTML and CSS would be a major pain...

Thanks for all your feedback, I'm taking the site down for a redesign (working on the actual plugin's more important, anyway). Is it just me, or am I getting the vibe that people do not like the green?
I always wonder why people do that - take their sites down while they re do them. Surely you may as well reap the publicity from the old site while you redesign it - it costs you nothing to leave it up.

Agreed. If I took down (url="http://"http://www.evula.com/")my site(/url) for every redesign I did of it... well, it would be down for a LONG time. However, redesigning small sites is much easier than re-coding 1000+ pages (which I did for the latest "redesign" of the sidebar).

Huh... Yea. You should leave the site up while you're working on updates. Otherwise your viewers have to abide by your schedule, which they generally don't like doing.

Hmm.... I could do without the bright green and the frames, but the site looks very nice indeed. Personally, I'm partial to the white myself (http://virtualgoo.tripod.com), but don't do any gradients from white to black. That can cause readability issues. It's safer to stick with one color in the background.'

Like I tried to say earlier, I am rather ignorant of how to use greps in my searches. Point me in the direction of a website that would show me how, and I'd gladly learn.
However, it should be noted that it wouldn't have helped much; I still had to search through 1000+ pages to redirect where they looked for CSS files (from /includes/ to /css/), find and replace the sidebars for 4 different types of pages (Games, Opinions, Humor, Misc; this was four times for four different levels), plus replace the footer. 1000+ files is still 1000+ files.

I was actually paying attention, (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/~castiglione/catalyst/news.html")see?(/url) With the redesign comes a reorginisation; the site address has changed to the one in that link, but the old one will still redirect you to the new.
Regarding grep, and the find-replacing of 1000+ files: BBEdit has a very handy feature where you can find (AND replace) content in many files at once, using very powerful pattern matching. One of the ways it does so in the OS X version is by piping the request through grep, which means that you can do it manually from the commandline; unfortunately, I know of no good websites regarding the use of aforesaid utility. All I know about how to use it I learned from man pages...

As for the rest of the site, it looks fine, but yolu really should specify an actual BGCOLOR. IE's default is white, which is fine, but Netscape's is gray, which reveals a bit of slack on the coding front. Shame on you.

Yeah, I know what greps are by definition, I just don't know how to use them. It still would have been a pain in the ass, though.
