Is it possible to have none moving weapons be in a system when you arrive in it in EVN?

You could make very small planets with short range weapons that you can't land on. However, you would be able to select them with the nav default keys, so this is less than optimal.... There's probably a better way that I've not thought of; this is just the first one that hit me.

Shure make a ship with 0 speed and accelaration. Add the weapon systems and bingo, your mine.

The Frozen Heart's orbital defense platforms and space mines are good examples of this, although you can finesse it a little more in Nova.

The AI will not fire a weapon that will result in it's destruction.

The penalty of a good AI... what if it doesn't have a crew? No one to get hurt...

I'll tell you, what I wouldn't give for the ability to script new AIs. Mmmm. Ah, well.

Hmmmm.
Couple of options, I think. Not very authentic, but you could make a weapon for a planet (visible or not...) that shoots extremely slow moving, extremely long lasting ammo. If you want mines in specific places, you can make spobs with the 'deadly' bit set, and an appropriate graphic. That is, obviously, deadly. The advantage being you have complete control over placement.
As for making a ship mine, I cant think of a good way to make it blow up (assuming you want something non-deadly, and the 'AI wont kill itself' is true). You can always make short range turreted black beam weapons with a dude that always attacks player. That likely triggers the alarm thing, which isnt optimal either. All told, nothing strikes me as obvious, but I'm sure some other people have better methods.
Make avery small very dark ship that lays mines. Give small ship cloaking device, make it use cloak all the time. Let the mines be droped when cloaked. Good enough?
Rebellion without truth is like spring in a bleak, arid desert.
AI ships won't drop mines though, unless they fixed this in Nova which I doubt.
Ah, my old nemisis, spl-cadet. I'd think they'd have fixed that bug, given all the improvements that took place...

I don't think it's really so much a bug as a feature that simply isn't present.

Old nemesis? The only time that we were ever in the same topic, much less on opposing sides was when you posted some questions about some Bible verses, questions I easily answered.
And mcb said that the ability probably wouldn't be added so that would be that.
'twas a joke, nothing more... And the only reason I didn't respond to you're 'answers' was because I knew I wouldn't convince you... you're firmly set in the outdated Roman Catholic religion, which is all pomp and ceremony and no real Christianity.

Why not have a small ship with no shields and 1 armor (with graphic if you want the mine to be visible, otherwise invisible) that launches a 0-speed missile that's set to reasonably large radius and damages the firing ship (not set to destroy it)? That should work unless the AI won't fire that either for fear of dying. In which case, you're kinda screwed.

I have heard from trustworthy people that this can be done...but I have never seen it. I worked for almost a week once trying various tricks to get a ship to blow itself up. It worked fine when I flew the ship myself! For the AI, tho, no joy. The problem with warheads that detonate with the firing ship still in range, is that as far as the AI is concerned it doesn't have the range to be worth firing...

Simply put, the AI is too smart to be fooled by some lowly plug-in maker.

Ammo type -999 doesn't work in Nova, like it did work in EVO?
