Let's just say that I've always regarded Mr. Pyro as the finest Lightwave user on the forums. You're not far behind him, though.
I'd like for users to submit their finished images as soon as they can, as I am going to be swamped with submissions a few days before the deadline. If you could do that, it'd be much easier and quicker for me to finish updates. But do whatever is best for you. Just a piece of advice.

Ooh - an excuse for me to start tweaking Mechanisto like crazy. Count me in.
See if I can design something cool for my next plug-in...

Go right on ahead. I'm glad this contest has been a starting point for many concerning graphics...
/me notes that his will be better than everyone else's, also that he hasn't even really started, so............
It's hard, though, my processor can't 'process' all that I need it to do in Bryce. It's going incredibly slow...

Yeah, yeah... that's what they all say.
I can understand the problems of a slow processor. Anything less then a G3 is usually not fit for 3D rendering or modelling (even G3 iMacs seem to be poor when it comes to 3D).

I do all modelling and rendering on a 6400/200 without a 3D card. Bryce is extremely annoying, and MojoWorld is out of the question, but other than that, modelling and rendering is at a satisfactory speed.

Nope I don't have a website for my 3D images. The closest I will come to that is to put up a site for my future EVN TC plug with history, ships, governments, map, stories, etc... "sometime in the future". Looks like I wouldn't be able to get a new G4 until after Chinese New Year over 2 weeks at least. If I do not have time, I'll just either use one of my old models that has not been revealed yet or just complete one of many half done models.

/Me remembers your orange freighter you made forever ago, and the glory it received. Use that one! That was one graphic I never forgot...
Sorry about the computer delay. :frown:

Now for the next step. Do I make a space probe or the aforementioned...thingy?
To Sir Lequis MX: Why not use the Falcon airship thingy, in its current form, but make it a planetside scene? Those airships could be the prefered mode of transport on the World of Balance (or something :)), or a luxurious rich kid's toy.
The if you still want it to be a space ship, you could say that the people of Narshe (an industrious town hidden away in the mountains), already having the main plans with the airship, simply converted them to handle stellar distances.
And to Captain Skyblade: Well, seeing as I'm already replying, why not ask a few questions? So there are two categories (with 3 skill levels in each). I know that one is s'posed to for ships and the other is for planetside scenes, but... What are the (exact) constraints? Is the 'ships' category simply for single ships, or is it for a whole space battle? And how about, say a shipyard or a hangar - would those fall into the 'Planetside Scenes'?
As you can clearly see, I'm utterly paralyzed with fear and confusion - I'm so frightened and befuddled (now, THERE'S a great word!) that it's someone else typing this. I'm actually semi-comatose right now, and that other person is filling in for me.
-Lunair + that other person who typed this (except that I actually wasn't para... oh wait. Damn. :p)

Some unfortunate news has transpired. Due to Captain Skyblade's absense, the graphics competition has been put on indefinite hold. Some may have noticed that SaberStudios is no longer gracing the web anymore. I have recieved no information as to when or if the contest will be resumed. As of now, Captain Skyblade is unable to take any more entires. He is also unable to be contacted.
God be with us all.
Gage Stryker, on behalf of Captian Skyblade.
Irrelevantly, I am still going to render it whether the contest continues or not...

Scroo it. The citizens of Narshe were too stricken with cynicism after the Empire sort of screwed them over...Except I think I can just have the ship floating there, above the thingy. I dunno, I'd rather just make it, even if it's not sci-fi. I can have it be the world of Riadon from Spectrum, on which there is a strange fusion of space technology and older technology...
Bah, this will still take some pondering. If only it could be more broad....

I can't get to the contest page. Did the contest get canceled or what?
(edit) oops... finally found the one post in the above morass that actually said something to answer my question. Only two posts up... One would think I would have noticed it before posting... (/edit)
(edit) And then I noticed the entire other thread on the topic of what happened... Hm... I wonder if I could host a graphics competition? I'd probably have to either really limit image sizes or make contestants find their own way to get the image online, since I only have about 20 megs to put web stuff in... Hm... (/edit)

If I even had an income of $30 per month, I would buy a Netfirms web account so I could do stuff like this. Except I don't. Yes, it would be a problem, that you would have to probably host it on different sites, unfortunately, as if there were 20-40 entries the sizes might range from 200k-1400k................We would need to know how many people would enter; before you initiate a contest, so you can set limits on the sizes of things and stuff. If necessary you COULD post it elsewhere, say, my site, or someone else's site...
Yes, it would be nice
