Like in C4D then Oh, and more than one spline type does come in handy, sometimes B-Splines are so useful.

eh, well, Lightwave 7 has Automatic Spline patches now, I found out as I was reading the manual. You now only have to connect the splines, or convert a object into a spline cage...quite usefull if I was doing organic modelling.
And so I was wrong... and excuse me if I dont read descriptions word-for-word

The interface is non-intuitive, there are actually too many options, and the seperation into two different programs, modeler and renderer, is annoying. In my opinion you'd probably be better off with looking for Infini-D if you wanted something more powerful. **
Well, I've used Strata for a while, and am now switching to Lightwave. It's not insanely difficult. Also, Infini-D is not as powerful as Lightwave (you never know what could have happened if it had been continued tho) and I found Infini-D's interface annoying - too many pictures, not enough simple labels.

It certainly has the Lightwave quality, though...

Just to confuse all us shoppers, Maya is releasing a demo within a couple weeks. Apparently the free version renders a copyright on each image and won't export models, it also won't take plug-ins. Still, one could try out Maya and see if one liked it...

Dang, I hate those kind of restrictions. I much prefer the thirty-day trial limit system (like the Bryce 5 demo does).

The Maya demo isn't being produced to render cool stuff -- it's meant to learn how to use Maya -- for otherwise they'd just lose tons of money. And the thirty days can easily be gotten around.

I use C4D. My dad works w/ graphics designers so I got a copy of C4D and started it with no NO experience. A month later I have decent images. I like C4D because it is a good balance between ease and power. Any good person can make Lightwave images with Strata, it just takes longer. I like C4D because it makes good images with little effort.
