Actually, I didn't put any EV Edit links in there on purpose; I find that EV Edit hampers rather than helps any plugin developing, -especially- when learning how to make plugins.
Well I just find the starmap editing thing useful, even though I know of its ability to mess all my plugins up.

I'm not totally sure of this, but I'm pretty sure that the EV and EVO Developers' Maps allow you to do that, too.

Can anyone give me a good reason to continue working on Fusion? I know that a few people liked it, but if i get a good response, i will resume the project.
For those that dont know, it was my attempt at an EV/O Resource Editor.

Hey, thanks for the links! But, where are some good sites to download pre-made spites?(I see a lot of reapeats in plugs, so I know you are out there!)
Oh yea, I agree with that opinion of EVEdit. Yes, whoevere made it worked hard, but it REALLY sucks!

Hey, EV-Edit is good for learning the ropes of plug-in developing. But for seriousl programming, it does suck.
As for the downloadable sprites, most of the good sites are in the Resource Freightor 3(someone already gave you a link above).
As for Iridium, go for it! There aren't enough real plug-ins for EVO, I'm sure Fusion would be a welcome addition. If you need help with it, this is the place to ask for it. I'm pretty busy with SRE, but if you need any plotline/conceptual/idea help, I'd be plenty willing and capable.

Does anyone know where I can get the "Movies to Sprites" utility I've heard of?

Unless I'm mistaken, you're referring to "Pics 2 Sprites"...I don't know who made it, or where exactly you could find it (it used to be on the old EV site). I would warn you about that program, though...PICS format has become a rare thing these days, and there were some slight program-to-program differences in it that caused Pics 2 Sprites to choke... I recommend doing all sprites as the good ol' 36 individual renderings, and then using a photoshop automation to put them all in one file.
A few more helpful hints on sprites:
- Render them double-size, and when you've got the sprite file all put together shrink it by half (making sure to be in the RGB color mode, not Indexed color). This guarantees smooth anti-aliasing on things, even if the original renders weren't anti-aliased at all!
- Lighting ships high-contrast, with a subtle backlight so the shadows aren't completely black, makes for the cleanest transitions into the EV 8-bit indexed color mode. The mac 256-color scheme has more grey tones than anything else (red in close second), and so ships that are mostly grey will turn out smoother.
- I think this has been well covered, but don't ever make any sprite with tile dimensions of 80 pixels X or Y. You get some odd results, and it can crash EV sometimes.
But anyways...yeah..."Pics 2 Sprites"...that would be the program's name.

I have it on my harddrive, though I've never used it. And I don't remember where I got it...

There's also a program called MakeSpin, which takes a set of 36 files and creates a spin and a mask. Again, I'm not sure where to find it. I imagine these are somewhere in the EV addons stuff.

I'll look into using your app. I haven't done any plug stuff in a while, but quality utilities are in short supply. cougheveditcough

He's probably not going to work on it again for a while . . . a 'while' being until he learns Cocoa well enough to write it; it was written in REALBasic before (blech) and he's trying to give up REALBasic (with good reason! :)).
Oh, by the way, he's not watching this topic.

Bah, I know that. I was trying subtly poke fun at Digital Boy.
Anyhow, I looked up pics2sprites and MakeSpin in the addons pages: (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl?path=ev/utilities&file;=MakeSpin20PPC.hqx")http://www.ambrosias...keSpin20PPC.hqx(/url) (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl?path=evo/utilities&file;=Pics2Sprites.sit.hqx")http://www.ambrosias...Sprites.sit.hqx(/url)
I couldn't find movies2sprites, but if that's really what you want then send me an email and I'll figure out a way to send it to you.

I believe this "Movie to Sprites" is R&R; Software's m2s. As for Pics2Sprites, it was written back in 1996 by none other than Matt Burch himself, and was used to create the actual game's sprites.

Don't bash REALbasic, it can do things quite effectively in a fraction of the time taken by other environments if used properly.

Sorry, but I just can't resist any chance to bash any form of BASIC. But really, Cocoa is much more powerful, and I'm pretty sure Iridium has got plenty of time . . .
Oops...
this seems to be getting off-topic...
Come on, people! Add more links to the list!
