I have seen a lot of target graphics created out there. Those are some of the good ones I have to say. The targets will look great in a total conversion type plug, but if you were to make the plug with some other ships made by someone else, they just don't fit in (or the new ones won't fit.)
While I was scrounging around my HD, I came across many different EV and EVO plug-ins sitting in archive, so I quickly looked through them and compared some of the targets. Unfortunetly, if someone wanted to use various graphics from other plugs (with original creator's approval), the target graphics don't always match up with the EV/EVO look. (Sticks out like a sore thumb in a small plug or even a baby TC)
Example of this is (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/captainz/targetcompare.jpg")here(/url). I don't know the original creators of the first 3 ships shown (the 4th is a Captain Z original), but the target graphics are horrible, or atleast look like little to no effort was put into them. Shown on the far right, are remade versions that will fit with the EV universe. (BTW, if anyone knows who the creator of the originals of the frist 3, contact me at captainz@mac.com)
Anyways, Skyblade, you've outdone your self time and time again, and I will be watching your site for those ships to keep rolling out. Good job.

The first two are from a very old plug-in by 'toffe', the creator of the EVGE plug-in for the original Escape Velocity. Unfortunately, 'toffe' was never easy to contact, and, as far as I know, has not been active in the Escape Velocity community for quite some time.
The third I have recorded as being a creation of Weepul 884, who is still active on these boards and is often seen in the EV Image Gallery.

I think you need a new color theme. 2 reasons.
1: There are so many sites with green on black, most of them suck (not all!) cause that's what everyone does with their first space site. I liked the old color theme better.
2: Studies have shown that people generally lose interest quickly when it's a light color on black. (For some reason it doesn't apply to the webboards...) **
Interesting. But seeing that the Lair has had over 20,000 visits doesn't tell me that green and black websites aren't good at pulling in visitors. Blue and black is what I prefer in terms of website layout, but green just seems to work better at Saber Studios.
Cap'n Z: Thanks. The reason I based the target graphics on their current appearance was because of complaints at the EV forum. People either loved the wireframes and hated the colored targets, or they loved the colored targets and hated the wireframes. I decided that colored ships and a more complex green background did the job. They fit in perfectly with the original EV target graphics, and they also look good in plugins which have a black menubar. They are intended to be used with the ship remakes I've created... No wonder they wouldn't look good with the standard Frigate graphics. Thanks for the advise.
Speaking of ship graphics, I put the Confederation Courier and Rebel Shuttle up for download earlier today. A few landing pics added as well.
David: Yes, that third one does appear to be the work of Weepul. It just has his style to it...

Some of your ship spins are really tiny like the Confed Freighter

Small? The original Light Freighter sprite was 48x48 pixels each frame (I believe). The Confederation Freighter sprite is 104x104 pixels per frame. Nearly twice as big.
48*2 = 96
It's actually 2.1666.... times as big.

The length and width may be 2.1666... times larger, but with dimensions of 48x48 for the Light Freighter and 104x104 for Captain Skyblade's freighter, we can square the dimensions in order to find the areas of the two sprites, which are respectively 2304 pixels and 10816 pixels. Therefore, Captain Skyblade's freighter is actually 4.694444 times larger than the original.
I stand corrected.

I'll be sure to call in your backup next time I need it.
