After reading the Nova bible, who here has decided to wait untill Nova to finish their plugins, instead of releasing them for Override? I probablly will.

Don't. Keep working on it for EVO, and then use PortAuthority to port it to the EVN engine. Then start making a new one from scratch maximising the use of the new features...

When I eventually release a plug-in I intend to make it EVO. And most likely, the future plugs I start to make will either be Escape Velocity or Override. It's condiont I have about doing stuff like this.

"Operation Overlord" has been planned for Nova from the start. Although I am currently limited to just graphics at the moment, atleast I'll have them ready...

I am going to finish my plug-in for EVO (if I can ever get enough people to help on graphics) and maybe make another one for EVN, becasue a plug-in for EVN that doesn't use the cool new features won't be all that great.

Well Dreden War is going to be finished for EVO. After that, Dreden War Gold (yippee! Nova vers :D). That was a conscious decision that I made (this was a few weeks before corsair was founded, it was only me and Captain Skyblade), that I'm standing by.

Hehe...After looking at the Nova Bible, I'm so excited that I want to dump the Override version and just wait for Nova.

There can never be enough plugins for any version of EV. Please finish it. It will give you invaluable experience that you can then bring to making plugs for the EVN engine. That's how we at ATMOS honed our skills. Nova was an EVO plug long before we came to an agreement with Ambrosia to provide the scenario for EV3. It was making minor plugs (like cheaters, adding a system here a ship there sort of thing) for EV that gave us the background to start on a major plug for EVO. Well, our first major plug was good enough that we wound up where we are today...

Cool...you should put them up for download. How many did you make?

I understand. Mission scripting looks so cool... But we're going to finish Dreden War on EVO.

I guess we will have to finish Dreden War for Override, though I've totally lost the inspiration for it. :frown:
It's official. Espeidia is in hybernation untill EVN is released (though I will continue to do graphics for it). In the meentime my other project, Elmejara Alliance (see the EV image gallery for more info), is progressing nicely, and will probablly be released for Override sometime this fall.
I'm still planning on doing The Great Conflict for EV, unless someone makes a really good plugin editor for Nova, but I'd have to have people to do the graphics all over again :frown:

Don't lose heart, do your EVO plugins, and when Port Authority is released, you can have two plugins, one for EVO and one for Nova too...
Basic conversion of resouce formats will be easy. Harder will be getting a TC plugin to fit into the Nova Universe, but there may be options there too.
What makes a plugin good is not tthe resource formats, it is the stories, style and mood you establish. So don't worry too much about the details.
Cheers! DrR
------------------ NovaTools are coming.
Unfortunately, making plugs with Nova seems so complicated (even with your editors, Ralph, there need to be numerous variable to be set) that beginning plug-in designers will be forced to make plugs for EV or EVO first, then when they will have get enough experience, they will begin to make plugs for EVN. So don't throw out your plug projects for EVO for plug projects for EVN.

Well give it time. Plan and finish up the Dreden missions, and I'm sure you'll get re-inspired. We need to have it finished. If only to show to the world that a team can produce and finish a high-quality plugin! <waves fist a lot, then leads hordes of corsair developers across the world in a war of conquest>

I can honestly say that it is easier to work with the Nova engine using the w00tRalphtools than it was using resedit on an EV plugin. With a little give and take, beginning plugin makers will probably be better off starting with the EVN engine than with the earlier ones precisely because it will be the only engine with a totally integrated and professional set of editing tools...
Yes, the R&R; editors are that good...

I'm hoping Pontus will upgrade his developers map program fo Nova, hand coding the Nova map (and I've seen it! ) must qualify you ATMOS guys for some sort of medal. NovaTools doesn't do a graphical map editor deliberately to leave room for others like Pontus and Ben to have a go too. Also, since the Nova Map was already done by the time I joined the effort there was not a big pressure to make such a tool anyway. If Pontus decides not to upgrade though, I may give it a go later. Time permitting.
In the meantime Port Authority already converts EVO Maps to Nova Maps (including visbit -> ncb scripts conversions etc), so we may be able to use Pontus's map maker as is and just convert to Nova formats and then add bells and whistles with the NovaTools.
DrR
I sure hope Pontus makes one. Maps are what I do worst in Resedit, and ironically there are 10 or so large parallel universes that MadFax7 and I need to put in Rift.
