(url="http://"http://www.sutherland-studios.com.au/family/evo_software.html")Sutherland Studios(/url), the gents from down under who have brought you ShipWrite, Mission Control, and other cool EV/EVO development tools are hard at work adapting their tools to work with EV Nova.
This means cool things, guys -- because they've been brought aboard this early, odds are good that they'll have some of their excellent tools debugged and ready to go when EV Nova hits the streets.
This means that you'll have some nice user-friendly tools for working on plugins for EV Nova -- and given the numerous added capabilities in the new engine, this is definitely going to be a great thing for plugin developers. I'm not going to make any promises for Sutherland Studios, but the future is looking bright indeed.
So kudos to Ralph and Rodger, you guys are doing great stuff -- Ambrosia (and soon the EV Nova developers) definitely appreciate your hard work.
(sidenote: yes, this means Ralph has access to EV Nova pre-beta builds. No, EV Nova is not in beta yet. No, Ralph will not give you any information or builds of the game. Please leave him alone and let him work on cool tools for you; you'll be better off that way. EV Nova still is not a playable game, it is very much under construction.)

Old news, heard it on IRC days ago.
I just fear that they'll abandon their EVO stuff for EVN. Mission Control needs work, and I'd love to see more of those ResEdit things like they did for governments and outfits. An bug-free EVN editor isn't very fun when EVN isn't even in Beta...

Not big news(I already heard about it) but it will possibly be very important for the success and longevity of EVN.

Don't be so elitist; most people are not aware of this news.

We announced a while ago that this was going to happen, so you may be aware of our intentions already... however it is news in that it has actually begun (Ralph has been seeded).

Yeah! I hadn't heard, goddamn commie ;)! Sounds like a good plan though, now, how to get that beta of Ralph

That should be wonderful.... While I'm still working on only my second plug, I'm already becoming constrained by EVO's limitations, so I really can't wait to try out some of my ideas on Nova. Thanks a lot, Ralph and Rodger!

Don't worry, our EVO tools will live on and we'll continue to debug them. The ResEdit plugins are also pretty easy to make (once you have the right MPW setup), and that will be a good way to impove support for the simpler EVO resources without having to create whole new applications.
Cheers Ralph

Yeah! I didn't know about it too. I still don't!

But I am honoured and I will try to live up to the great standards the EVN people are setting.

Would it be possible to make something that would allow easy editing of pilot files? The tricky thing is decrypting the data first. If so, I can send along all the notes, spreadsheets and AppleScript scripts I've made.

I'm glad to see that there won't be such a huge shock when EV:N gets released, as we'll (hopefully) have some plugin development tools by then. Good work!

Sheesh. What's next? Australia gonna take over the world? How can a continent so tiny have so much talent?
Oi. I await those editors with barely restrained glee.

Tiny continent, forsooth. Bite your heathen tongue and compare the size of Australia and the U.S. (ignoring that big lump of ice to the north.) And talking about Oz talent - look how quickly we can elect our top politician.

True, but you're still a crown colony.
Brisbane is actually a cool city, I stayed there for a week or so last year. Did the gondola ride in the bay there.
You wouldn't happen to know if R&R; had any plans to complete their toolset for the 'less complicated' resources, would you? Or to integrate it all into one big chunk?
s
What do you mean 'less complicated resources'?

Ah, you talk out of ignorance. I remember seeing pipeline saying that no-one in Austrailia actually drinks Fosters, anyway.
