A Ship

I finally did a ship I am willing to allow the public to view. It is at (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/rebelswin_85/Scythe_Warship_3.jpg")http://www.geocities...e_Warship_3.jpg(/url)
Any suggestions, ie more detail, stuff on the texture, etc., will be appreciated. I rendered the ship in Strata3D.

BTW, how big is a 37725 byte file in kbs?

Looks very nice overall, but the little pincer thingys on the front look a little out of place, and the texturing looks like the yellow brick road without the color. Very nice idea and general shape, though.

Hehehe... no it doesn't! But what you need to do, rebelswin_85, is adjust the texturing so that it looks like an integral part of the objects, rather than something that's been thrown on top. If you want a uniform texture over a portion of the ship (which isn't always a bad idea) you should probably decrease the scale of the bumps so they don't stand out so much.

Nice ship rebelswin. Here's something I made... not that good but it's a start. (url="http://"http://www.angelfire.com/mac/EVOverride")Click here to view(/url)

Thanx for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make any changes to the model because the file got corrupted. :frown: Fortunately, I still have the textures, and the model didn't take that long to make.

Bubaganoosh: I like the ship. What did you do for the engine glows in the back? I have been trying to work that out on another project. The ship would look good with some better textures. Go (url="http://"http://www.integratelecom.com/~ckey/3d/")here(/url). There's some great stuff there on making textures.

A nice ship, but I think that if the bow were rounded it would have a smoother appearance. Also, the bow should be slightly smaller and/or longer stretched to make it look streamlined.

Just my opinion.

rebelswin: If you used Strata3d than make a cylinder object that is pretty thin and just stick it on the back of the engine (I used a couple small ones but if you want just one major engine use one). You can give the cylinder a simple color if you want. Then go into FX and click on Aura. Edit the Aura likewise:

1. Give it a new color: Depending on what type of engine you want change the color likewise
2. Inner, Outer, All: Pretty self explanitory.. I used Inner on this but if you didn't give the cylinder a simple color I would go with all.
3. Intensity and Size: Just play around with it to see what you like best. I always make the size bigger than the intensity.
4. Blend color: This blends the aura color with the cylinder color.

Play around with it and I'm sure you'll find something preferable to you...

Cool, I don't really even have any suggetions. I like the fact that it's so unique :). What was it made with?

I saw your original design drawings...you produced the ship very nicely. 😄

Thanks! But you should see my original original drawing: I drew that ship about 6 or 7 years ago, I think. If I had a proper scanner I'd put that drawing up too, so you could see how well I adhered to my original intent! 😉

And I made the ship with Mechanisto: it's all I know, to this point.

I added a new ship to my collection. Go (url="http://"http://www.angelfire.com/mac/EVOverride")here(/url) to view it (along with my first ship). The second ship is my newest addition (Duh!) hehe... It's okay but I think it is much better than my first.

Very good overall. Could use a window so the crew can see out. also, weapons and more engines. I'm learning starta3d right now. i'll show you my pic when it comes out

Hehe... in space, no one can hear you scream... 😉

For a better lit, more clinical look at the same ship look (url="http://"http://home.earthlink.net/~squibix/art/illusside.gif")here(/url). If you do, though, you can see that I got lazy and didn't really detail the back of the ship: since you can't see it in the dark, anyways.

Squibix... Turn the lights back off! AHHH!!! hehe 😄 Actually it still looks good but with the darkness the glows look cool, and creepy. The only thing is that those long antenaea or whatever they are look kind wierd. What are they anyway? Kinda looks like a cactus 😄 Just messing with ya Squibix...
