In my most recent work for Cold Blood, I've been re-rendering all of my ships from the old top-down isometric view to a 3/4 perspective view. It's been going well, except for a snag: One of my origional 3d files was corrupted, and therefore I have no way to re-render that one. Instead, I simply re-made it. Twice. Here's what I came up with: This is the first file, the one that was corrupted. This is the second generation. This was before I did the 3/4-view renders, so I ended up using the first one as a long-range fighter and the second as a shipborne fighter. This one is smaller than the first in physical dimensions. But, with the 3/4-view thing going, I needed to re-do the first one. I opted for a larger, more utilitarian look, and brighter reds on the color markings.
So, lemme know what you think, if you think.

Both are sweet, but they don't look like they can handle atmospheric flight all that well, because of the wings. What program did you use?
The painting is nice on the second one because it looks like its been through a lot of wear and tear, maybe a little too much, unless that race is barely surviving a war.

Great looking ships! The third of them is a very nice design, and I'd run with it.

They're not really designed for atmospheric flight, mainly because EV is largely space-based. I came up with this theory of using the sheild bubble in atmosphere, that way the antigravity-repulsion thingy can keep it aloft as it cuts through the air with a low drag coefficient. But in the basic sense, it doesn't really matter. That's just my opinion.
The CDS, the government that this ship belongs to, has a fleet of ships that are a little old. They haven't gotten a new shipment of space-fighting craft for a little over a century. So, yes, they've been through some wear and tear.
It's the Apollo right? They look amazing, if only I had some textures like that. I prefer the second one, it reminds me of an A-wing. The last one is still great, but wouldn' you have to re-make all the other CJB ships to fit in with that colour scheme? Maybe not...I dunno...to early for me.

I like the third one except rfor the red on it which I think looks terrible.

All three are really nice, but I like the third one best.

Onyx, your graphics are amazing. You never ceace to amaze me...
Those textures are incredible! The detail on the third one is, well, incredible also. I'd say go with the 2nd and 3rd (like you had a choice ;)), except if you could put a glow around the intakes on the 3rd one like you had on the 1st one it'd look a bit better, and a bit more like the ship it was designed to replace.
Are you going to update your Texturing Guide for EV? Depending on how specific they are, the textures on these could be great to use, and regardless great to see (for examples on making your own). Something I'd also like to see anywhere is sort of a tutorial for making really good metal-plate-weathered-mottled (like on the 2nd one) textures...or just some pointers. If I ever learn, maybe I'll try to make one...
hey Onyx, neat graphix... what program ya use?

Very nicely done -- I love the purposeful detail on the third ship, as well as the tattered (worn-looking) markings on the paintjob. Very, very well-done.

Those look great, especially the 3rd one. In EV3 that would look fantastic, not so much in EVO

Just to echo the others here: a fine ship. Well done! It certainly wouldn't look out of place in EV Nova. Yeah, I think it's that good.
all the best,

Weepul: great idea! In fact, Onyx, if you'd like to drop me a line at pipeline@mac.com ASAP we can discuss something...?
Onyx -- I'd like you to get in touch with me as well -- andrew@lgm.com -- we may have some work for ya
Great PICTs!!

weepul said you had a texture tutorial for ev. May I ask where I can get it. I could learn from the master

I hope that link worked...it's less a guide to making textures than a few general tips and some downloadable textures.
Onyx working for Ambrosia? Dang...I always knew he was good, but still. I wonder if he'll accept, since he IS working on Cold Blood.
(power to the middle-low end graphics programs!)
Look good, keep it up and you will be rivaling NOVA

VERRY nice...I wish I could do something like that in 2D. I like the third one best; I think the red stripes make it look a lot better than the first.
