No, I don't really see how I could have the same plugin functionality as EV unless I make a version that allows for just LAN/Limited Internet play.

The main focus was on a large, one game environment, system like a MUD but with pictures.

evolib gives full ev plugin support. but as the plans for evarena say at the moment there will be a restricted access to evolib (-> custom sprites) and a set of plugin features supported by the server (-> same chances for all) or the network mainserver.

for those who dont understand:

BounceServer (a server that maintains the network)
Network Mainserver (NMS) => aquivalent to a galaxy
EVArena Server => aquivalent to a planet/system
EVArena:HW Client => the player - including a server for peer to peer battles
