It's fine, just fix the shadowing and the messed up back of it

OK Folks,
We have 9 great ships so far. We have fighters, cruisers and freighters of different kinds, it looks great. I'd like at least 12 ships, but we'll take more if you have em. Up to two ships per entrant. Don't forget, entrants get to preview the competion pages and make sure the entries are presented well before the voting starts.
Anyway, the voting system has been written and tested so we are nearly ready at our end. People will be able to vote for multiple ships and can give comments that will be moderated and forwarded to the entrant. Entrries are anonymous (although you can guess from some graphics, but that is the entrant's choice) and are identified by number until the end.
Anyway is it only 2 days to go, so get tracing!
Cheers Ralph

Forget it, I don't have the time. In fact I don't really have the time to finish off the first ship.
Umm... I can't seem to access the competition webpage. It says that the URL was not found on the server. Has the competition moved, or is it just down right now? And if it is merely down right now, when will it be up so I can submit my entries?

Questions/requests: 1. What's to prevent one person from voting multiple times? A dynamic IP, multiple email accounts (if you want verification), and such would pose a problem...
2. I'd prefer it it my comments weren't forewarded, but were collected on a page, not unlike a guestbook. Can you do that?
3. Can you vote for yourself?
4. What do you do in the event of a tie?
5. Is it no longer "over 12 entries, only 1 entry per person"? It seems that way by what you'd said about hopefully over 12 entries...

Hi,
You submit your entry by email as a stuffit archive, we put it online and you get to preview the entyr before we put the page online to the public.

Nothing, we will only be able to check the IP of the voter. If a voter votes many multiple times for the same ships we should be able to spot it though. Voters can vote for more than one ship. There is no failsafe way to ensure people don't do massive mulitple votes, so we will depend on people's honour, until proven otherwise.
Yes. I don't see any reason why entrants can't vote for their own ships, so go for it. Since I am moderating and running the vote system, I have no ships in the comp, but Rodger does If people feel honour bound to not vote for themselves thats OK too.
If any entrant is not happy with the votes, they can have a copy of the vote log to check for themselves.
The comments will be collected onto a page as we go, at least the printable ones! we can forward them to the contestants as well if they like.
Declare two winners!
We will have two ships per entrant. Even if we go over 12.

Ok. But I would like to know why I can't access the webpage that's supposed to have instructions. And where I put the description. Does that just go in the body of the e-mail? And what kind of personal info should I include (i.e. name), and where?

Sorry, the page got renamed by accident with PageMill! The url (url="http://"http://www.sutherland-studios.com.au/family/evocomp.html")http://www.sutherlan...ly/evocomp.html(/url) is now working. The description can be in any text form you like - we are reading the email in person! If you email us, we'll have your email address and that is enough info for us. Sorry about the mix up, if anyone else has been delayed by this mistake on our part then we'll accept late entries, we'll extend the due day till monday the 2nd.
Thanks! I haven't been delayed by it yet, though.
hm.. are you guys going to hold these kind of competitions a couple times or maybe regularly? cause i wasn't able to enter something and i really don't have alot of time(i shouldn't even be here!).. how about different kind of pics too?
BTW. This is a really good idea and i think this is one of the first times something like this has ever succeeded.. i really like those ships(that scorpion gunship looks like it's modelled after a lego set?? )

I think if this turns out to be successful then there is no reason not to do more. There seems to be a good group here and perhaps we can take turns to run little competitions - share it around. Different people are busy at different times. And sure, next one we can have different pics and so on.
We'll announce the start of voting tomorrow, (this is a sneak preview announcement for all the desingers) but the page at
(url="http://"http://www.sutherland-studios.com.au/family/evocomp.html")http://www.sutherlan...ly/evocomp.html(/url)
is all ready to go now, (voting doesn't count until tomorrow -- there may be some late entries).
Take a look, and think about your votes early!
Cheers Ralph & Rodger
Yeah, wouldn't of stood a chance.

Wow, this last 2 entries are just beautiful! Thanks guys, you already inspired me to do more homework on 3D modeling.
