I have a confession

I never really finished EVO. I mean, all the strings. I left quite a few unfinished, particularly along the crescent. I sorta got sucked into some plug-ins, and EVO just had so much stuff to do.

I... I just had to get that off my chest.

Well, that's okay, because I never really finished all the strings either. At my height of gameplay there, I could probably claim maybe five strings-the United Earth string, which is also the easiest to get, the Voinian string, the Renegade string, and the Zidagar string. I believe I got involved with the Zachit at one stage, so there's a possibility that I might have done all the "Destroy The Rock" stuff. Ah-and I've also done stuff for the Emalgha, but that fits in with the United Earth string.

That's basically about most of the work I can remember doing, mission-wise. I may have tinkered with the Igadzra string, additionally...okay, maybe not four or five strings. I don't know, off-hand.

FOR SHAME

I finished everything, usually multiple times. For some reason I had big problems ever getting the second leg of the Igadzra string so it was comparatively recently that I finished that.

EVO is my favourite of all the EVs, as the missions present rather more of a challenge. Even in the original engine with the crap AI many of the missions were genuinely tough, and with the EVN conversion they can be downright diabolical now that the Monty Python maneuver doesn't work properly any more.

Hang your head in shame, boyo. Beating EVO is a pre-requisite of our company!

It's not too late.

The human Renegade string, which starts on an independent human world where you need to have negative legal status to get the mission for, is my favorite.

I didn't even realize that existed.

Yeah, I got stuck in the Igadzra string, with no idea where I was supposed to go or do. That's pretty much the end of my default-scenario EVO experience. I got heavily into some of the TCs and such, never went back. I did do quite a lot, but there were at least two strings I did not complete.

For me it is. I no longer possess any computers capable of playing EVO, and will not touch the Nova port, it's not the same thing.

The renegade string was good, but I think that the Azdgari one was the most fun because you end up fighting alongside a load of meth-heads in green spaceships. Peter Cartwright must have smoked some good s### when he made those races.

Dude, I've got that solidly beat. I was the moderator of the EVO board for two years before I even had a registered copy.

Keep in mind that I was one of the original four moderators (Me, Chamrin, Jude, and Micah L) that were assigned after the initial switch from escape-velocity.com to AmbrosiaSW.com. I originally only wanted the EV board, but got assigned the EVO one, too. shrug My lack of knowledge of the game hasn't really hindered my moderating anything, though (well, that's my estimation; the countless hundreds of souls that I've crushed with my deathgrip on the board for so many years might disagree).

Just to add to the moderator history here...

When the AmbrosiaSW boards were set up, the four EVula mentioned were set up as moderators of the EV and EVO boards, while the EV Developer's Corner was offered to myself and Blackhole as we ran an independent Developer's Board at the time. Soon after, Bomb and Micah L were added as another two moderators, bringing the total to 4 on each of the boards (with Micah L moderating all 3).

Eventually, Micah L stopped coming to the boards at all, but it took a LONG time for him to be replaced. I was the first to triumph against his constant presence, when I got him replaced on the Developer's Corner with the esteemed mrxak. However, he persisted in his featureless presence on the EV/EVO boards until really quite recently, when he was finally replaced with mrxak on the EV board and Bomb on this board. I took up the fourth spot on both of those boards at the same time.

What Mazca is saying is really rather silly. Everybody knows that Micah L, mrxak, Mazca, and I are all the same person.

shut up Myriad, you don't know what you're talking about.

Micah L is still listed as a web site admin on the EV and EVO pages.

Grrr.

Someday I hope to be Micah L.
