Although not my ultimate choice of ship, I find that the Miranu Freighter is about my favorite intermediate ship. I wait until I have enough money to buy one and a couple of upgrades (or I capture one). Those things will last you foever if outfitted correctly. They have plenty of cargo space for any runs you might have and picking up any cargo you might want to get, and they can be outfitted considerably beyond that of most other similarly priced ships. The only drawback is that it is slow at first, but just get max phase turrets, and then you should be able to take on a lot of ships, then get the speed and turning upgrades and you can pretty much kick a s s! That is just while you are building up to get an Igadzra and then the UE Cruiser. Just my two bits

I dont really know. Shayborgs site speaks against them heavily.
"The Miranu Courier is good for pure exploration, but not much more. It has very light armament--only one phase turret. Its defenses are a little weaker than the Arada's. The Courier is fairly slow, but not incredibly so. It has little expansion space, but a fairly large amount of cargo room. This ship's redeeming characteristic, though, is its range--15 jumps, by far the most in the game. It is available at all Miranu shipyards at all times for 500,000 credits. This ship can be seen throughout the Crescent, piloted by Miranu traders. This ship, although relatively cheap, is pretty much useless. For trading, the Miranu Freighter or Heavy Freighter is far better. For fighting, almost anything is better. This ship really has no viable uses, except for pointless gallivanting around the galaxy."
It has much less cargo space than a Freighter or Heavy Freighter. Its actually fast compared to the other two freighters. Shayborg says it has got little expansion, so I dont think has considerably more space than most similarly priced ships. Forever, probably if a player pilots it and uses its reasonable speed and exceptional jumping to their advantage. In AI it gets heavily damaged even a against a single Crescent Fighter.

I wasn't referring to the Courier. I was talking about the Freighter. I agree that the Courier is a piece of crap. The freighter, on the other hand, is not TOO slow....it can pack a lot of cargo from ships you board and sell it later. Plus, you can get some mass expansions without impeding your cargo room. I find that a freighter, with all of the jumps it has and the massive space and the decent shields and aromor, can get you through a lot of tough times. The long jumps also mean that you can get through enemy space without having to confront authorities or bribe for fuel.

/me slaps myself to the head for not reading properly. Sorry. Pirating other ships? Miranu dont like that, and you will get Zachit on your back, which are very painful with quadruple Pursuit Missiles. If you meant Renegades though its OK. And yes, you can get some Mass Expansions without sacrifying much of your cargo space. You have over 200 tons. And probably I rely on shayborgs site too much, but he says for purposes of trading he would rather have a Heavy Freighter. "Even though the ship is pretty good, the price is a little excessive, in my opinion. Overall, this ship is wonderful for trading--but why not just go ahead and buy a Heavy Freighter instead?"
See, I have been Heavy Freighters before and can't STAND them. They are REALLY slow and can pack almost no weaponry (I use guns most for weaponry). I find you can pirate traders almost anywhere except in Miranu and Zatcha space, and even there they only attack you once in a while for it. The number of jumps makes the ship ideal for getting through enemy space by just holding the "j" button down. You almost never get hit that way. Hell, with a Miranu Freighter, I have taken out Igadzra capital ships! I find that when pirating, also, taking the credits is nothing compared to taking the cargo. Cargo gives you so much more money, so I like a ship that can pack on a few tons ;). It isn't like I usually pay for the ship, anyway :D. I just board and capture one, and take it from there. After I have upgraded the hell out of my freighter, I usually won't even take a captured Crescent Warship over it. I'll just make the warship my escort.
This is surprising - I love the Miranu Courier. It's excellent for doing the Hatuli run, and it holds together very nicely. I sometimes get it instead of a Helian as my third ship, depending on whether I'm looking to make lots of money first, or start a mission string early - here is my normal ship order:
For starting mission strings early: Shuttle -> Scoutship -> Helian -> Arada -> whatever For making lots of money first: Shuttle -> Cargo Transporter -> Miranu Courier -> Freight Courier -> Lazira -> whatever

Well, I guess I never gave the Courier much of a chance....I have only used it once. I can see where you are comming from with your ships, though, Mazca. It does seem rather appealing to use if you are freighting supplies across the galaxy considering its generous amounts of fuel.
My personal buying/obtaining pattern of ships: shuttle (duh) -> scoutship -> Helian or Miranu Freighter (usually captured) -> Crescent Warship or Igadzra (depending which I capture first) -> UE Cruiser
usually, once I get the Miranu Freighter, I try to get about 3 heavy freighters and 3 offensive ships. If I am really wanting to make serious money, I will just get 6 heavy freighters and do runs between various profitable places (like the mumb or whatever it is called). I do this until I have the UE Cruiser and then just get 6 Igadzra ships for escorts :D. Of course if I get a helian and then am able to capture say a lazira, I am going to take that as my ship ;).
Okay, where did this get offtopic?
------------------
We got off topic on the 4th post, which was made by Gordontron, b/c he recomended getting a Crescent Warship ;). Guess it does happen. Anyway, I think that this line of topic is done with, so hopefully we won't be seeing many more posts concerning it.
(quote)Originally posted by KingArthur10: **We got off topic on the 4th post, which was made by Gordontron, b/c he recomended getting a Crescent Warship:) ) Well that was a harmless coment I just sudjested (wrongly I now remeber) that cresent warships are good for the azdigari string (they are later on). Well the question was anwsered so people thought it would be ok to just start discussing ships for the mission -> the ships in general -> all out discussion about ships. Even though this kind of ship discussion has happened 100ths of times it is nice to revisit it with different people and later on. The original question was anwserd so maybe we should kill this topic.
