Mac OS X supports three different application environments, cocoa, carbon and classic. Native OS X applications are either cocoa or carbon. Classic applications (a.k.a. OS 9 applications) run under an emulated OS 9 environment. EVO is a classic application, which means that while you can't run it natively under OS X, you can run it under "Classic mode", assuming you have OS 9 installed somewhere on your computer. But since now you have OS X, I'd recommend you to try EV: Nova, which is OS X native.

"Q: Will EV Override be Carbonized?

A: I'm afraid not. It's not a matter of simply recompiling or optimizing the old code for OS X. For most of our older products, the compilers just don't exist any longer. That means each game would have to be rewritten from the ground up. Our programmers and developers prefer to dedicate their time and efforts to new projects."

We're eventually going to port EVO to Nova.

Then you should reinstall it. Classic doesn't slow up your computer at all when it's not running, and plenty of applications still require it.

Unless by 'memory' you really mean hard disk space, you should still reinstall it. Under Mac OS X, Classic need not be running except when you're using it, and it's only when Classic is running that it uses up any memory or processor power.

Cooldude, since they're going to port the EVO scenario to EVN, you'll be able to play EVO, via EVN, under OSX. EVO the application will never get updated to be X-native because, quite frankly, it isn't worth it (financially and otherwise).

Also, as David suggested, unless your hard drive is pathetically small, you should install Classic on your machine.

20 minutes was not a sufficient amount of time to elapse before bumping the topic; the EVO board is far from lively, please do not expect a response 10 minutes after you post.

Who's working on the official port? Mikee and Woozle, is it? Does anyone know if the graphics will be Novalized or not?

I believe they are the ones working on the port. Dunno about the graphics, though.

I'd seriously hope they don't try to upgrade the graphics... asking Meowx if his graphics can be used natively might not be too bad an idea, but otherwise, they'll be at it for a year... : )

I agree with him about asking Magma.

Well, saying as the EVO models are freely available, it wouldn't take much effort to make versions with banking sprites, extra turn sprites, or engine glows.

You're right, but Just Chat doesn't have a specific topic, while Just Games covers ANY non-Ambrosia game, hence more traffic. The EVO board only covers a single game, one which doesn't get played much now that Nova is out, so there isn't much traffic here.

too bad....but serously I think EV Nova isnt much compared to EVO.

Sorry I misfrased my setence.

EV Nova is really big really futuristic, really good graphics.
But I think EVO just is too good. EVN is TOO futuristic and its about kinda the same story but more complex . ITS TOO GOOD ....

I prefer EVO 😄
