Wow, I really really can't believe I thought this was the worst one of the entire series with out giving it a chance. Sure the ship graphics aren't great...but it really does make up for it some how. I cna't even explain it.
Anywho, I just realised the version taht I have is 1.0.1 that's how long its been sitting on my hard drive not being played. however, how much different was the jump from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 I just decked out my first voinian frigate...I would hate to have to start it all over again, at least the voinian string.

Don't upgrade to 1.0.2. From what I have heard it totally ruins gameplay by making it too hard. I too run 1.0.1 and i have no complaints other than armor is spelled "armour". but hell, they had to make it so the brits could read it too.
To be honest I have never taken the time to do the renegade strings. but i know all the others infinatly better than the back of my hand!

awesome, that's all I needed to hear. I'm glad I didn't upgrade just yet then.
