In LMC, the Teh'Rak and Pirates have fallen to the huge fleets of the Horosk. The Valanor seige the Arkanok as the Gamaera and Thalleon begin to voice their support for the mysterious clan. Meanwhile, no news has come from the cut-off SMC galaxy, and the fate of the survivors there remains unknown.
In Andromeda, the Asani are preparing to clear out many Pirate bases near their space, and while the Federation continues to duel with the Rarkyl, the Ediens prepare to attack their nearby enemies. The Sladerei and Federation are also preparing to begin talks that may lead to a join assault against the Ediens, but will it be in time?

Edien Admiral Sae'Vas looked at his fleet. Two Edien Dreadnoughts, along with a fleet of 500,000 vessels, all prepared for war. Not only was this fleet formidable, but it also incorporated the latest technologies the Ediens had developed.
New shield generators allowed shields to be recharged faster, new power reactors allowed for slightly enhanced beam and turret power, and, just recently, the Ediens had improved their battlecruiser design. It now had 2 extra Anti-Proton Turrets, could carry 5 more interceptors, an extra Ion Beam, improved shields and armor, and new engines which gave the warship maneuverability never before seen in that size of vessel.
They also had a slightly faster and more maneuverable interceptor, with increased firepower, as well as better armor and shielding. This brought it up closer to the level of Horosk fighters, though the Horosk were still better fighter-wise.The final advancement was a modification that allowed all Anti-Proton Turrets to function as Point-Defense-Systems, though the system still needed to be perfected, but at least it could take out approximately 25-35% of all missiles and rockets. The Dreadnoughts also had an enhancement; each was equipped with a single Transdimensional Energy Beam. Extremely powerful and having an incredible range and impact, the beam was designed for heavy capitol-ship warfare.
The fleet was now ready for war. Their first target would be Thorosk itself. Edien High Command wanted to crush the Horosk quickly, and that was why Sae'vas was given two dreadnoughts instead of just one. Sae'vas had studied under the greats, such as Admiral H'nanta Battledoctor, Admiral Grathon, and others, and he was absolutely certain that he could win. Even if he ran into trouble, he had Admiral Toros'viar with the third dreadnought and additional forces for backup.
------------------------
There was hundreds of flashes as the Edien warfleet jumped into the Thorosk system and began to open fire. The fleet arrived first, followed quickly by the two giant dreadnoughts. The minefield had taken its toll on them, however; they had lossed 15,000 ships, while many others were damaged. The Horosk fleet was stunned at the appearance of the two colossal vessels, the Garm and the Perdition , as they began to disgorge hundreds of torpedoes and fighters into the fray. They also released their battleships, which also began to wreak havoc.
The Horosk fleet was soon fully deployed and started to open fire, but many of their missiles simply never made it and instead exploded harmlessly as Edien Anti-Proton Turrets blasted them out of the sky, but it couldn't stop them all, and the Ediens had to begin evasive actions in order to evade the missiles that weren't stopped, and even then they were hit fairly hard. The Edien fleet fanned out, and, when the missile and rocket barrages lessened, charged and unleashed unholy amounts of firepower into the opposing Horosk. The dreadnoughts caused immense destruction as thousands upon thousands of Edien fighters swarmed the Horosk. The Horosk weren't the only people who could now release overwhelming amounts of fighters; the Ediens could do the same, and they hoped it would be enough.

OOC: Come on guys, let's get this story going!
Due to Carno magically having the Ediens outdo almost everyone of my tech advances in an instant, I see no point in replying to the above post. He's threatened to kick me out for advancing quickly before, so when he does it, I get annoyed.
That's all folks.

Hmmmmm... Agreed (yes, I actually agree with you this time ). Once I have a little bit of time (hopefully sometime later tonight), I'll edit my above post and fix up some stuff about it to make it more fair.
Oh, and thank you for voicing your opinions in a civil manner.

Weeks have passed, and much had happened. The Strand League was now very much a province of the Galactic Community, and there had been very few problems with the population - only the occassional riot, mixed in with dozens of celebrations that had not even been prompted by the individual Zidagar and Igadzra states. The situation seemed almost too perfect now, with the Galactic Community seeming to bring no problems and a thousand benefits.
One Igadzran was not convinced. It was at this time that the mentioned Igadzran, named Kain Lariat, commander of the Igadzra Grand Naval Arm and newly appointed Judicator of what was to be the Galactic Community's judicial assualt force, combined from the Zidagar and Igadzra navies, was sitting behind a surprisingly plain wooden table in a spartan room. Another man was in the room - Kain Lariat's right hand and another Judicator, by the name of Dacona only. Dacona, the "Razor Breeze" in Old Igadzran Tongue, one of the most skilled pilots in the galaxy, perhaps the most skilled. Together, those two inspired fear unto their enemies, pride amongst their people, and respect among many other military commanders the galaxy over. And upon that day, they were justifying their reputation.
"You're right, of course..." Dacona replied slowly, eyeing the galactic map with some interest even as he spoke, taking particular note to the coloured arrows and figures that dominated the area south-east of former Strand League space, "...but with our navy only recently recovered from the effects of the battle with the SMC aliens, it may be advisable to wait just a few weeks before making any action."
"I understand your concerns," Lariat replied, unconcerned, "but we have recovered, and with the additional capabilities of the Galactic Community backing us, we are far stronger than we were before. There is no need to wait for the P-rail and the hy-vel rocket, if that is what you are thinking-"
Dacona shook his head. "No, of course not. It will be some time before those two designs are completed, and implemented into the IGNA force, but some time to consolidate our forces and scout the area may be useful."
"We know enough already, Dacona. With the Teh'Rak destroyed, this is the best time for us to strike the Akrahd. And of the Akrahd, the Gamaera have caused us most pain."
Dacona slowly, grudgingly, nodded. "I suppose...no harm can come of it; we are already capable of such an attack. This isn't going to be another typical attack, is it?"
Lariat laughed. "What do you mean?"
"Oh, where we throw every last ship into the fray. That type of stuff. As I recall, we lost two navies for that," Dacona replied, his face grim. Lariat's soon fell also.
"The Kayans will back us now. And our entire navy wouldn't be outmatched by Gamaera," Lariat replied, although not so confidently. "We can do this..."
Dacona nodded without a pause, but his expression was one of speculation - he was quite distant. "Yes, we can. I'd suggest we wait a week or two to finalise our ideas, however, and organise armadas."
"We know of three systems on their northern border: Outpost Derash; Ki'Ran and Hokemnor. I already know that the Zidagar will back us, so we'll have Izirions on the field. They'll be able to create enough havoc between those three systems to drag most of the Gamaeran navy out within no time. The Izirions will be able to leave quickly and efficiently - three times faster than a fleet comprised of warships - and give us chance to strike deeper. In fact, if we draw their attention to those three systems, we might be able to move quite close to those systems without them realising it, as they'll be forced to bring in all their ships, including scouts."
"It could work. I'll inform all IGNA commodores to be ready for a last stand, however," Dacona replied seriously. "If we get surrounded when we hit deep, a last stand should prove quite effective - and not futile," Dacona added at a look from Lariat. "I know we can do this, but preparations are necessary. When will you ask the rest of the Community?"
"Not yet. When we have finalised plans."
"Sounds reasonable enough to me. Let's get to the plans, then."

"That should do it," the engineer said, wiping engine coolant off his hands and onto his already messy clothing. The engineering bay where he had been working was an utter mess, blown conduits, tools, and other assorted debris littered the floor, but the small firefly that stood before him, designated "Ram Prototype 1", was looking as clean as ever. It was a big improvement from when it had been brought back from the first test flight, smoke pouring from it's engine manifold and power relays. "These new energy conduits should be able to withstand the greater power levels that we require."
"Good work," said a man wearing a Military Corps uniform - obviously the officer in charge. "I'll inform the pilots to prepare for another test run."
Half an hour later, Ram Prototype 1 was slicing through the skies of Kayla, and proceeding into orbit. After an extensive systems check, the shield ram was brought online, and it's effectiveness tested against several mothballed aradas which would have otherwise been recycled. The results were much what had been expected, and this time, with the new power conduits installed, the shield ram worked without a problem. As expected, the interaction between tachyonic shielding and the shield ram made the combonation slightly more potent than a standard shield ram, but only a nominal 15% increase over the standard shield-ram values.

Kayan citizens were taking well to the new Galactic Community. There had been several peaceful demonstrations against it in the earliest days of the Community, but these had subsided as the benefits became obvious. Businesses thrived as market barriers were torn down, and a greater and greater quantity and variety of races and cultures were seen visiting Kayan space. Most of the older generation accepted the change as an inevitable step forward while the younger generations embraced it with enthusiasm - some even considered themselves citizens of the Galactic Community above their allegience to the Kayan Alliance.
Work on the giant Kayan Supercruiser continued the vessel's shimmering white hull now almost complete, and internal systems for the most part ready. Programmers were being brought in now to custom build the programs and algorithms needed to run the less vital systems, as well to strengthen the ship's already fortress-like computer security measures. By all estimates the supercruiser would be ready for its maiden voyage within the month.

------------------ "One day you'll find your whole life has changed - act quick, be brave, your heart will show you the way"
Bahamut Igazrada, Lariat's Flagship NSI-232
Lariat, dressed now not in the formal uniform of an IGNA officer, but in the cloak of a High Judicator, his newly assigned position. The cloak was a deep indigo in colour, lined and embroidered heavily in golden leaf. Over his left breast was his emblem; a winged lizard in gold and silver on a background blacker than night, its claws dug down and its head held high, defiant unto the very last. The eyes of that lizard shone red - two tiny rubies stood in the place of its eyes. Below Lariat's personal emblem was written in a strange, runic text like blazing fire his rank and order. Over his right breast was the ensignia of the IGNA, a raised fist clutching a star that shone as if trying to break through, unsuccessful.
He stood upon the bridge, still somewhat uncomfortable in the cloak that marked him as belonging to justice for the rest of his life - a servant of the people. Lariat was not used to quite such formality, even as commander of the IGNA. He was, however, nowhere near as uncomfortable in the cloak as the man who stood at his right. He wore a similar cloak, but with a different personal emblem and a different runic inscription. He was also a High Judicator now, no longer second to Kain Lariat as he had been for many years. Lariat was privately pleased to see Dacona now in the position he had always deserved, although Dacona, an aging, grizzly Igadzra, seemed less than pleased.
"Dacona, are you alright?" Lariat asked after a while, not turning to face him as he watched the galactic map on the viewscreen intently, viewing the movement of fleets.
"I'm fine," Dacona replied confidently, but somewhat distantly. His voice belied no worries or concerns, as usual. Dacona had very often been a pillar of reality in situations where Lariat felt he would have lost control. It was for that reason that Lariat had always wished Dacona had assumed his rank, and that he'd been subcommander. "A little on edge, perhaps. An attack like this can either succeed or fail, and failure would not be desirable."
"Failure is not an option," Lariat replied as surely as he could manage, more to convince himself than anyone else. "We will succeed."
"Most likely, yes," Dacona mused, "but at what cost? A navy broken, an unexpected attack... you haven't even sent the message to the rest of the Community yet. How can you expect aid to be there?"
"I will do so within the next hour," Lariat answered his older friend. "It's just... I don't want our plans ruined."
"Yes, I know what you intend. A great victory for the Igadzra, and perhaps not so for the Zidagar also? I know what you want, Lariat, but we must work together. The Igadzra have made their legend - it is now the turn of the Galactic Community. I will not let you reduce the Zidagar to nothing more than a decoy in this," Dacona spoke, his voice lowering as he continued. "Or are you trying to protect someone from harm, Lariat?" Dacona asked softly, but with the disapproval clear in his voice. "You know that she can protect herself - and probably better than you can yourself."
Lariat turned away from Dacona, and was silent for some time. Dacona watched him without a word, not taking his eyes off the back of Lariat's head, knowing that the other man could feel those eyes upon him. After a painful two minutes, Dacona spoke again. "The first fleet has arrived."
The image of the galactic map faded quickly at Dacona's instructions, and was replaced by the standard viewscreen, showing an enormous knot of vessels entering the system. One might have thought there to be a million ships there, there were so many, although in fact only a tenth of that was present. Two armadas, still, both Igadzran, and led by those who had once been commodores and now were proud to display the rank of Judicator. The two armadas moved purposefully towards the forces led by Lariat and Dacona seperately - totalling four armadas, each fifty thousand strong. It was not a particularly large force compared to some of the armies that had been mustered of late - although the fleet's size would be tripled before the final attack was made - but it was highly advanced, utilising some of the most powerful technology in the Large Megallanic Cloud, technology matching that of the Federation and even surpassing in areas. It was a proud fleet that lay there in NSI-232, the site of a battle thirty years old, where another proud fleet had stood victorious against a foe.
"Lariat," Dacona called to him, drawing his attention. "The Izirions will be here within the next few hours. They'll take the agreed route to attrac enemy attention at Outpost Derash, Ki'Ran and Hokemnor. There are other border-systems further east, we believe, but better to cover these completely. Are you ready for this?"
Lariat simply nodded, his face set. "Good. The Igadzra fleet moves through NSI-233, Ven'Track, Zan'Trek, and passes S-2334 about the time our opponents are being distracted. From then we move south, and strike. This area is mostly uncharted, of course. The Zidagar fleet will follow a second path, making a strike upon Ki'Ran when our enemies realise our course. Ki'Ran will fall easily, we can be certain. At which point, the Zidagar fleet also moves deeper, causing as much havoc as possible before our enemy regroups and organises itself. At which point, the Izirions are going to clear out the Derash sector, and the Zidagar and Igadzra fleets will meet, hopefully, somewhere at the very heart of Gamaeran space, perhaps their capital itself. We will not wait for them to counter out attacks. We destroy a defence fleet, we destroy all traces of life, and then we move on, regardless of whether enemies are in hyperspace to that very same system. Of course, we'll change the plan as we go, but we intend to strike as much confusion as possible."
"I know, Dacona. We've been over this," Lariat said.
"I'm just trying to ensure you were paying attention to your own plan," Dacona replied with a faint smile. "And if the opponents aren't reacting to the Izirion ploy right, you take two armadas and strike Outpost Derash, and I'll take two armadas and strike Ki'Ran. The Zidagar fleet can then take our route down the middle while we hold their reinforcements back. And when we make it to their capital, Igadzra take up the reef and grind them into their own homeworld, while the Zidagar teach the pitiful Gamaera the meaning of fighter superiority. If the battle is drawn out, we'll begin sending 90,000-strong Izirion strike forces and 24,000-strong duel battlegroups down upon our enemies to tear apart their worlds while they fight it out at their capital. Gamaera will not survive this attack."
Outpost Derash The Izirions did, in fact, quickly make it to NSI-232. As they were all fighters, they moved three times as fast in hyperspace as warships, giving them a frightening ability to be seemingly everywhere at once. The 210,000 Izirions broke off into three groups, with only the one moving to Hokemnor not arriving promptly. The first ever test of the Izirion's power was at Outpost Derash, and it was not a disappointing one.
70,000 Izirions broke into Outpost Derash, the Gamaerans only having limited warning with their sensors. With each Izirion armed with three kyhdron beamers, they had unholy close range armanent, and their speed allowed them to close in before ranks could be drawn. They swept through small contingents of patrols that had been moving back and through from Outpost Derash, which had not had a chance to group together to make one organised fleet. They elimininated lone vessels one by one, moving faster than even the fastest Akrahd vessel.
The devastation seemed massive while it lasted, like a pack of wolves stalking, striking, and disappearing. However, it was not a battle, but rather a skirmish. By the time the Gamaerans had organised and begun to resist the strike, the Izirions had turned and disappeared into hyperspace, without even having to slow down. For only thirty or fourty seconds they had been engaged, and a good four thousand Gamaeran ships were nothing but burning hulks in space, and four times that were damaged. Gamaera had no idea what losses they had inflicted, only that they were practically none. The Izirions had appeared from nowhere, with almost no warning, and had struck far too fast, too powerfully. In Ki'Ran, the skirmish was repeated just as efficiently, the Izirions gone in under a minute, and causing similar damage as in Outpost Derash.
And, unbeknownst and unexpected, the Igadzra fleet was prepared to strike between the two systems, now in Ven'Track, with the Zidagar fleet to back it up. Meanwhile, 1500 Igazradas were poised in Var'Chen'Ra, to move to the aid of any failed attack, or if all went well, to strike deeper in a third prong.

Enclosed is information of our latest move against the Gamaeran Akrahd. We apologise for not being able to disclose this information at a more reasonable date, but we found ourselves caught up with the process of planning the attack, and put off this message to make sure we had everything planned in time.
If the attack fails, and we are both killed, we would hope that you would shield the Igadzra and Zidagar so they have time to recover. However, with the forces we have commited to the field, and our working battle plan, we can assure you that the chances of failure are extremeley minimal.

Thorosk Fleet Admiral Methay had looked in horror at the incoming Edien fleet. It outweighed the 2 Horosk fleets in the systems massively. Luckily, his ships ahd just undergone a major overhaul, and some of the new technologies should prove a surprise to the Ediens.
----
The Edien fleet had entered the system, and found nothing, initially. Then it rocked in surprise as the entire Horosk fleet decloaked at extreme missile range and fired as one. Not a single missile went for the dreadnaughts, but instead for the Battleships. They where tough, but not nearly as so. Damaged from the minefields, 3 exploded in an instant, the rest heavily damaged. Then 10 Phoenix BattleShips opened fire with their concussion railguns. The power of the ships smashed into a single Edien Battleship. The powers involved belied the imagination. Another Battleship blew up. The Phoenix Battleships vanished from sensors, going back into sub-space fold. As did the flets carriers, having launched their fighters.
The Ediens had returned fire of course. But against the newly improved defensive fire being put out by the millions of AP Beams, not a munition got through. The sheer amount of defensive fire stunned the Ediens.
Then the Edien Fighter swarms where upon the Horosk. Outnumbered, they still put up a fight. However, they had known nothing of the new turretted stalker missile launchers on every Horosk Capital ships. The fast moving, literally impossible to dodge missiles flew out, smashing into the Edien fighters. The sheer amount of Missiles fired meant soon the Edien fighters where but a poor remenant of what they had been.
However, the Phoenix Battleships had reappeared, and made a fatal mistake. They rippled into view almost ontop of the Edien fleet, and flashed green. They smashed into the Edien fleet causing carnage. Then one of them came into range and target lock of both of the Edien dreadnaughts. Massive beams smashed into it, unlike anything the Horosk ahd seen before. In moments, the energy matrix surrounding the ship had been breached, and then the energy armour, and then the hull. The ship blew up before it had a chance.
So warned, the Phoenix Battleships faded from view once again.
Warned of the massive power of the dreadnaughts new weapon, the Horosk fleet began to pull back. The dreadnaughts massive size meant it could not keep up with the Horosk fleet moving away at full speed. The Horosk would let the Ediens come to them. Here anyway. Elsewhere, a different story would be told.
At full speed, a Horosk fleet from the Rarkyl border was hurrying towards the Thorosk system, and although they would be too late, 2 of the Horosk fleets in the LMC had begun the long journey back to Andromeda. And a ship the Ediens had never seen before, the Horosk Supercruiser, was on the way.

Teh'Rak - Outpost Nil-Sirya
Warload Nitja, leader of the Teh'Rak, proclaimed Emperor of the Akrahd, sat in his Battleship, overlooking his grand fleet. Most of the Teh'Rak navy sat in this system that had once been Valanor. And soon, so would the rest of Valanor space fall under the Teh'Rak.
The Horosk, having reached Teh'Rak itself had offered a deal. They would recognise the Teh'Raks supremecy over the other clans, and allow the Teh'Rak to rule. The Horosk had asked little in return, except for a few of the conquered border systems. They had offered the support of a Horosk fleet, and assistance in maintaining the Teh'Raks lead over the other clans in technology.
Now, the Great Fleet stood ready. And now, it attacked. Elcar would be the first system to fall under the Teh'Raks might. And thanks to Horosk scouts, they knew the main Valanor navy was on the other side of their space. And the Horosk would warn them of any incoming fleets. 250,000 ships made the Great Navy up, and they would not stop until they reached Valanor itself.
Projects Anti-Matter Railguns The current railguns the Teh'Rak have, use outdated plasma technology. They now plan to use antimatter technology to gain a large boost over the other Akrahd clans. It is expected that weapons power will increase in multiples. ETA:12 posts

Battle of Thorosk
The Horosk point-defense-systems, however, were not able to stop all of the Ediens Quantum Torpedoes. They were much more resistent to energy weapons that other forms of ammunition. The Ediens had deemed missiles as too easy to stop and thus invested their research efforts in more-powerful and productive artillary weapons.
Screaming forward at full power, even the dreadnoughts surprised the Horosk with how quickly they managed to narrow the gap. Of course, though for a dreadnought they were fast, compared to other ships, they were quite slow.
Trying to locate the hidden enemy Phoenix Battleships, the Ediens fired off Ion Beams and some excess torpedoes in all directions, trying to score a lucky hit. As they moved ever closer to the Horosk fleet, which in turn backed up, they also neared the planet Thorosk itself. Soon they would be in weapons range of the planet and could begin to bombard it if the Horosk didn't leave the system.
OOC: Will write more later. Need to go now, unfortunately.
------------------------------
Valanor and the Arkanok
With the immense Valanor navy closing in, their spirit of fighting no longer willing to waste away through another war, the Arkanok surrendered to the Valanor, completely and fully. All warships and bases were given over to the Valanor, as were all technilogical information, which included an enhanced railgun which had 10 more shield and armor damage and an improved range. The Valanor now also had their hands on Arkanok maneuverability, which was better than the Valanor's.
The Gamaera, upon hearing of the Arkanok's surrender, now found that the time was perfect for them to make their planned announcement; the Gamaera would no longer support the Tronoak clan, and would instead now fight for the Valanor. In a show of faith, the Gamaera also handed the Valanor their own new technology; Penetrator Missiles. Lightning fast, incredibly accurate, and actually rather small for their heavy payload, the missiles were designed to quickly deal with vessels which had little or no shields. Any ships at 15% or below could be penetrated by the missile, which would then smash into the armor, penetrating deep into the vessel before unleashing its explosive warhead.
Captain Iraevol, the commander of the Preemptive Strike , a warship in the ZSN, sat in the captains chair on the bridge of his ship. Just a moment ago, they had been put on high level alert, just as the first stages of the assault on the Gamaera had begun.
"I wonder where they're going to strike..." Iraevol said to himself.
"I wouldn't really worry about that sir. It isn't that important to us..." a lieutenant replied.
Oh yes it does... A lot more than you know... Iraevol thought, keeping silent. "I'm going to be in my ready room for a while. Keep me posted."
And with that, Iraevol walked off to the ready room, adjacent to the bridge. Locking the door and making sure the room was free of any sort of listening or sensor devices, the captain then sat down at his desk and typed in a special clearance code that allowed him access to a certain section of his personal database that no one else could see. Typing in a report, Iraevol sent off the secret message to a hidden location, cleverly disguising the transmission and giving it an encryption code that no computer in the galaxy could truely crack. With that, he turned off his computer and sighed, glad that another day of work had gone by and he had not been revealed.
(OOC: Yechh. I had trouble keeping up with the story even when I wasn't on a semi-sabbatical (as I have been for a while now), and now it's more or less impossible -- and I really hate participating, or trying to, in any story I can't or don't follow. So I think it's best for all concerned if I officially resign from the story; my character is resigning as President of the Sladerei too, without naming a successor, so anyone else can take over if desired. I wasn't that integral to the story anyway, and, to be frank, I wasn't enjoying it a whole lot. Thanks, sorry, and see y'all around ... :))

"Action!" yelled the Parliament cameraman. Shayborg raised his eyes to the holocam and tried his best to cover his nervousness for the untold billions who were watching his annual address to Parliament. "As of this morning, I have activated contingency Plan Beta 9ś." The Sladerei Parliament audibly gasped. Shayborg resolutely went on, "For those of you that don't know what that means, we are now at open war with the Edien. I trust and hope I have readied our nation well for this event." The next part was going to be hardest. "However, as you know, I am an academic. An ivory tower bookworm. I am not prepared or qualified to fight a war for you. As a result, in the interests of the safety and well-being of the Sladerei people, I hereby tender my resignation as Interim President of the Sladerei." This time the collective intake of breath was more drawn out. Shayborg continued over the dull roar. "I cannot honestly say that I have enjoyed my job; nevertheless, I hope I have left my successor a nation in as good a position as possible. Thank you, and good-bye." Waving the camera off, shayborg resolutely turned his back on the Parliament, ignoring the palpable surprise he could still feel in the room behind him. Suddenly tired, but relieved, shayborg walked out of the chamber with a measured gait. He hoped he would never have to see it again.

As Shayborg walked out of the chamber, just after announcing his official resignation, he didn't notice a long Sladerei soldiers walking him. His eyes darted about, looking for anything suspicious, and yet still keeping an eye on Shayborg.
As he continued to walk away, the soldier spoke into a hidden microphone. "Naesak, this is Aralavask. Note resignation of Sladerei president and report to headquarters."
Meanwhile, in another part of the main capitol city on Sladereia, another Sladerei soldier was bent over a computer in her room. Listening to the report from Aralavask, she quickly typed up a short, encoded and hidden, message and sent it secretly to an unknown an untracable location. With that, she turned off the computer, and went to bed.
As the Battle of Thorosk raged on, Edien scientists began work on designing an upgrade to their PDS system, which was as yet unable to stop nearly enough of enemy munitions fire. They also began to research new shield designs which would allow for much better shield recharge. This was crucial for ships which were damaged by mines and immediately after engaged in battle. Ships at full strength were much better at surviving a battle than ships which didn't have much shields left.

The Federation quickly got the message from the Horosk, but unfortunately, the majority of their ships were still engaging the gigantic Rarkyl armada on the border. The Federation had been forced from the base which was first attacked, and now struggled to contain the Rarkyl armada as it attacked another outpost. A fleet would be sent, but it wouldn't be very large and it couldn't be sent immediately.
On New Kayia, in the shipyard that was constructing the giant Kayan supercruiser, nobody noticed a Kayan soldier suddenly leave his guard post and walk away to a window which overlooked the giant vessel, only a few hundred feet away.
Looking around to make sure that nobody was looking, he secretly took out a small scanner and began to scan the Kayan vessel. It took several minutes, during which the Kayan, Sergeant Melkyat, continued to look from side to side down the corridor, worried that at any moment somebody might see him.
Finally, the scanning was complete, and the Sergeant walked back towards his post. He whispered into a hidden microphone. "Iaerosk, this is Taelask; I have the designs. Forwarding to you now."
Captain Iraevol, who had again excused himself from the bridge, listened to Melkyat give his report and then forward the designs of the supercruiser to him. He loaded it into his message, which he again sent out, again to that secret destination.
"This is Iaerosk; I sent the message. You sure you were not seen, Taelask?"
"As sure as I can be. I don't know how nosey these Kayans are."
"Just be careful. Iaerosk out."
OOC: Carno - the supercruiser is being built on Kayla (in the system of the same name), not on New Kayia. Just a note
Sergant Melkyat had just finished transmitting his message when alarms started blaring in the bay below where the supercruiser was being constructed. "Unauthorized scan detected," a voice came over the intercom system. "Supercruiser bay and shipyard complex lockdown in progress. All staff should remain at posts until further notice. No personel will be allowed to enter or leave Engineering Corps headquarters until the lockdown is over."
Melkyat swore under his breath. If he was going to escape the Kayan authorities, he was going to have to hurry, and have more than a little luck.
Commander Lasin of the Kayan Military Corps recieved the message from the Horosk with a dismayed look. "Our forces are already stretched thin helping to defend the former Strand League territory," he said out loud. After consulting with his military advisers, he authorized a fleet of 60,000 ships to be dispatched to help the Horosk battling the Ediens.
"I've just gotten word from the shipyards at the Engineering Corps headquarters, there is an incident unfolding there even as we speak," a young aide said, a sad look evident on his face.
Immediately the Prime Minister sat straight up in his chair. "What kind of incident?" he asked.
"Someone has taken an unauthorized scan of the supercruiser using a frequency not standard to the construction procedure," the aide informed him.
"Who took the scan? And why?"
"We don't know the answer to either of those questions yet," the aide said, "but they are in the process of locking down the complex even as we speak. With luck we'll know soon enough."
"If someone were to get a complete scan of the supercruiser at its current state of completion," Prime Minister Kyala asked, "Would they be able to build one themselves?"
"Yes and no," the aide replied. Seeing the questioning look on the Prime Minister's face, he quickly elaborated. "The bad news is that the ship is already nearly finished, and all the critical systems are already built. One could easily fly the ship as it is now. But, it would be of little use to fly the ship as it currently is - because though all the critical systems have been constructed, there is one that has not yet been installed. The tachyonic shield core - which powers the entire shield grid - couldn't be installed yet because it can only be added once all the programming to regulate it is in place. That programming won't be ready until later this week. On the down side, a current scan would give an accurate representation of it's offensive capabilities. Anyone who has a current scan will be well aware of what this ship is capable of."
"But if someone were to build a copy of the ship from a current scan, they'd be forced to fly without any shields at all?"
"That's right," the aide said. "and since the supercruiser has extremely thin armor, necessary to allow the use of tachyonic shielding, without shields it would be very vunerable indeed."
"Where is the shield core right now?" Kyala asked. "We need to increase security around it."
"No worries about that," the aide said, "It's being stored in a vault in Area 6. (OOC - Area 6 would be the Kayan equivalent of our Area 51). But we can incrase security just in case."
"See to it that we do," Kyala said, "we can't have these plans getting out."

OOC: Carnotaur, I need your reply from Gamaera. I need to know whether you follow the Izirion raiders or strengthen defences before I can continue here.
Pre-emptive Strike NSI-232
The Pre-emptive Strike , a Zira escort cruiser assigned, amongst others, to patrol NSI-232, was, unbeknownst to almost anyone, captained by an intruder - a hostile invader, by Zidagar conventions - by the name of Iraevol. His infiltration had been so perfect that none had questioned it, but now on the Pre-emptive Strike , he was attracting unwanted and unknown attention from the senior tactical officer of the vessel, a scarred Zidagar called Emon Zir. Emon Zir was a perceptive man, and over the past few days of duty, he had perceived some actions that did not at all seem to fit in with the behaviour of a ZSN higher officer. Iraevol had seemed too questioning with many things, and somewhat naďve in others. It was the type of unknowing that suggested unfamiliarity rather than a lack of knowledge - almost as if some things were being practised for the first time.
Most people who noticed such things would have passed them by without a thought. Iraevol was a new star commander, that was all. But Emon Zir had served the ZSN for fourty years in a week, and there was nothing he hadn't seen. Emon Zir had stood against the Ediens while he was still in his prime, and Emon Zir had been a star commander himself, of one of the merchant ships that were so needed when the Zidagar landed on Titan and began to forge their destiny upon a world that, despite being the best in the region, seemed less than inviting. Emon Zir had been involved in the Zidagar civil war, where there was as many cases of internal threat as external - more, perhaps; Emon Zir could remember all too well when one of the vessels he had been serving on, a Zigra, had been attacked from the inside. The attack had only just been stopped. Emon Zir remembered wondering at some unusual people on the ship, whose eyes didn't seem right, and Emon Zir remembered ignoring it. Emon Zir remembered watching his friends die under phase fire from those unusual people, during the attempt to seize the vessel. Emon Zir remembered all too well.
So it was that when Emon Zir began to notice some things about their star commander, he was instantly on guard. Iraevol slipped up here and there, using terminology he should not have even known, never mind being used to: captain instead of star commander; lieutenant in the place of tactical officer; bridge instead of helm. Most of all, Iraevol's eyes were not the eyes of a star commander, but seemed to more closer match what he knew his own were like, or the eyes of a ZSF or ICO agent, or the first defender of the Pre-emptive Strike , Accara Elantris, who was tasked, among other things, with unrooting such characters as Emon Zir believed Iraevol was. Iraevol's eyes always seemed to be searching, investigating, taking everything in as if he hadn't taken it in before.
Emon Zir had mentioned this all to Elantris once, but Elantris had not taken it. "Emon," Elantris had replied, "every two months you come to me about another person you suspect. You've got to calm down. I'm first defender, and I'm charged with keeping the peace, and I more than you know what to look out for. Commander Iraevol is not an intruder."
It was driving Emon Zir crazy. Other than commander Iraevol and subcommander Duvena, only Elantris had access to files which logged every movement and word spoken on the ship - everything. Emon Zir had at first not believed how effective it was until Elantris had spoken sharply to one man for saying things against Iraevol (as always, there were people who would say things they shouldn't, to anyone who had more authority than them), when Emon Zir had been standing next to the man at the time, and had heard nothing. The man claimed he had not said anything, and had only thought it. It scared Emon Zir somewhat, that things he thought he had not said could be recorded there. He realised, though, that if anything would prove Iraevol an intruder, it was those logs. The logs that only Elantris could actively access, edit, and delete, and Iraevol could only view (and some said, the star commander and subcommander did not have access to areas Elantris did.) But Elantris wouldn't listen, and wouldn't check, and it was slowly, slowly, getting to Emon Zir.
He was beginning to consider going against Elantris, to save the ship. He would do anything, to prevent what happened during the civil war, on the Banshee , happening again here, now.

Oops. Big typo there. Was supposed to read "As Shayborg walked out of the chamber, just after announcing his official resignation, he didn't notice a lone Sladerei soldier standing in the shadows nearby." Don't ask how I made the typo, because I don't know. I must have been distracted or something...
Outpost Derash
With the assault by the IGNA, the Gamaera immediately began work on repairing and rebuilding their defense fleet as well as strengthening the system against furthur attacks. Four new Combat Stations were built and spread out through the system. Smaller than most stations, which made them a little easier to build, these weapons platforms were armed with dozens of railguns and turrets, as well as many penetrator missiles, and yet had very strong shield grids which were quite effective at recharging. The Gamaera were unsure as how to face the Izirions, and were now trying their new Combat Stations to see how well they faired against the quick fighters. The same defensive measures were used in the other systems that had been raided.
The Gamaera were also designing a new upgrade to all their missiles, which would make them faster, more accurate, and slightly harder to jam. This would help them to better fight against the pesky Izirions. They also began work on slightly upgrading the plasma warhead in all their missiles.

Melkyat swore, though it wasn't any ordinary word that any kayan would use. In fact, it was completely alien. Thinking quickly, Melkyat rushed to the nearest com consol, which were spread throughout most vessels. "This is Sergeant Melkyat. I just saw an intruder rush down to Section C5. I tried to chase him, but he stunned me with some kind of weapon. I'm in Section C3 now, overlooking the supercruiser. I need backup quickly." After that, he quickly used another device to hack into the shipyard database and alter the readings about the area. It now showed another alien signature mysteriously appear, Melkyat walking towards him, and the signature running away and mysteriously disappearing again. He hoped that would be enough.
As Emon Zir worked at his consol, suddenly, Commander Iraevol approached him. He smiled, but Emon Zir wasn't sure if he was truely in a good mood or just putting on the facial expression. "How are you, Emon?" Iraevol asked, and Emon shrugged. "I saw you talking with Elantris the other day. Is there something important I should know about?"
Emon felt like Iraevol's gaze was burning into his mind, trying to see what he was hiding. "Oh, nothing," Emon replied. "Just a problem with Valaeron. You know how he is."
Iraevol nodded. "Yes. Well, I'm off to my quarters," he said, giving Emon a suspicious glance before leaving. Once he was in his quarters, Iraevol hacked into the main database of the Pre-emptive Strike and access a sensor log of everything Emon Zir and Elantris had been doing during the day. Deciding that the logs showed nothing to worry about for the moment, Iraevol covered his tracks, then accessed the voice database, which recorded everything everyone had ever spoken. Accessing his own file, Iraevol cleverly edited out everything that was suspicious, then checked on what Elantris had said. Once again finding nothing suspicious, Iraevol disconnected from the database, and once again removed any trace of him ever accessing the database.
Suddenly, a message came in from Telarosk. What is it now... Iraevol thought. Telarosk reported that there had been a security breach at the shipyard and that Taelask was likely involved. I knew Taelask was a bit inexperienced and careless for this job... Commanders are always so arrogant... At least Paladins have to fight and work for their rank... He sent a reply to Telarosk to watch for what happened next and assist in removing Taelask if he was discovered. Deleting any trace of the secret messages, as he always did, Iraevol activated the security program. It was designed to awake Iraevol if anybody tried to forcibly or secretly enter his quarters or hack into his personal database. With that, he went to sleep.

Friends, there is no need to go to the aid of the Horosk. We are sending our remaining forces immediately, and the IXD will also amass for the task. Your vessels are more suited to defence, and if you would allow us to make so bold a statement, ours are more suited to offence - especially against the Ediens.
68,000 ZSN, 68,000 IGNA, 50,000 IXD and, most importantly, 6000 Igazradas, will make their way to the Horosk's aid immediately, with more Igazradas being sent every week.
It may be tactically unsound - even tactically insane - but it would go down in history as one of the most incredible events ever should we defeat two considerable foes, simultaneously. And despite the sound of it, we are confident that victory shall be assured.
Keep your vessels on track as you wish, but you may rest assured that you will not be alone.

Enclosed is all the information of our reinforcements. We will come as fast as we can, but please understand we have over 600,000 ships engaged in another battle.
Emon Zir was considering making a move on the ship's logs - was, in fact, in the process of planning it in his chambers - when a beep came from the door. "Emon, this is Elantris. We need to talk immediately."
Emon blinked, and looked wary. Surely, Elantris couldn't have been viewing the logs as he prepared? The chances were extremely minimal. Emon knew that if he succeeded they would be viewed, but he had to take that chance. He would not see another attack on a ship he served in...he would not see friends die before his eyes, and know it was his fault.
So lost was he in his thoughts, that he had to quickly trace back in his mind to locate Elantris' following words. "About Iraevol. You have nothing to worry about." Emon sighed in relief, and quickly rose from his seat to open the door. He found it rather funny that with all the technology available, Zidagar engineers flatly refused to waste space and money on any sort of science-fiction style door. The door opened out, and Elantris stood behind. Alone. Maybe he's not here for that, then. But what? Could he have believed me?
"What is it?" Emon Zir asked cautiously. "Do you believe me now?"
"I don't ignore any claim," Elantris replied smoothly, his face grim. "Despite what I say, Emon, I've looked into every claim you've ever made. After the first few, I began to doubt, to wonder if you were right in the head, but I continued checking."
"Then why didn't you say...?" Emon replied.
"Security. Sometimes you can't be too sure. The official logs may not be the only ones being held. A recorder here and there, anyone can plant, and you have your own. As long as I appear skeptical, no-one has any reason to be worried. No-one innocent, or guilty."
Emon Zir's mind worked quickly, trying to decipher what all this meant. He realised, then, that Elantris must have come because he had searched, and that he had been right. Rather than feeling triumphant, he found himself shivering.
"The logs are off, and I've done a perimeter check for anything else. The area is clear, and Iraevol's location is secured as in his chambers. Asleep," Elantris reassured him, noticing him shivering.
"How did you know I was telling the truth?"
"This man is a fool," Elantris replied, a faint smile coming onto his face. "I picked up a modification to the logs instantly, and tracked it back to his very room. I brought up an image of him playing around with what he thought were the logs, typing away. No measures taken at all. I compared what he thought were the logs to a hard copy - yes, I have a hard copy, Emon - and spotted the area that differed. He pointed me to the damning truth. Fool. Helpful fool, though."
"So...what did you find?"
"Not sure yet. He - it - sent a message to some unknown location, but it's beyond my ability to pick it up where. I read the message, though - a report on everything we've done. He's also been speaking to what I assume are other agents. The scariest part, Emon, is that he received and passed on the designs of the Kayan Supercruiser."
Emon blinked, and began to tremble despite himself. "Just what is going on?"
Elantris shook his head. "I'm not sure. Emon, for now, keep quiet. This has not been logged, and he knows nothing of it. From what I've seen of his capabilities, he has no way of finding out what has passed here. You're a clever man, Emon Zir. Keep your face smooth, as I know you can, and wait."
"For what?" Emon asked, his face now retaining its usual strength.
"For the ZSF agents. Three of them. They'll be here in a few days, and will relieve 'captain' Iraevol of his duty."

"Ackowledged, Sergeant," Melkyat recieved a response. "Two security teams are on their way. There should be a first aid kit in the storage cupboard in the room at the end of the corridor you're in if you need it."
In the security center in section A3 of the Engineering Corps Headquarters, officers were hard at work trying to track down the source of the security infraction. "We've got an alien signature in section C3 - moving toward section C5," one chimed in. "Trying to identify."
"Direct security teams to sections C2-C6!"
Several seconds passed, and then the first officer spoke up again, "This can't be - I can't seem to narrow down the specifics on the intruder... wait... the alien signature... it's gone!"
"What do you mean 'gone', Lieutenant?"
"It just... disappeared, sir. One second it was running down the corridor, then piff, it simply vanished!"
"Bring up the visual from that corridor," the commander ordered.
"One sec... okay, replaying visual on main screen." A video feed flashed onto the main security screen. A typical corridor could be seen, blue warning lights flashing and sirens blaring, but there was no sign of any intruder. In the entire time that the mysterious signature was present, there was no video evidence of any alien intruder. "That can't be either - there's nothing there! Nothing at all!"
"Is it possible they're using some kind of cloak?" another security official suggested.
"I'm checking the energy emissions from that corridor. If they're using a cloak, it's not giving off any kind of energy field. That kind of technology simply doesn't exist."
"Then what the heck is going on? Send a message to the security teams heading towards Melkyat's position - tell them to form a perimeter around sections C3-C5. Check our computer logs, see if there's any discrepency. There's a chance the intruder's throwing off a sensor echo to disguise his true location. And get Melkyat on the comm... maybe he can help us figure out what's going on."
"Comm channel open, sir."
"Sergeant Melkyat, this is Commander Kariv speaking from the security room. We're having some trouble tracking down the intruder you saw - any information you could give us would be helpful. What race was he? Do you recognize the weapon he used? Anything helpful you can tell us?"
