Well, this has been stated many times, but I'll back it up. Constant Frontier, and capture. Voinians are notorious for their rockets. Take and sell. Personally, Love capturing ships that are much more expensive than my own, and selling it for a less expensive ship, then repeating, but that is long and annoying.

I always play for the Igadzra. I used to play Zidgar but then the phase beams began to shoot at a strange angle so that they were uneffective and i couldn't fix it so i gave up. I find that the Igazra is one of the most effective ships I have come across. The mission string starts in the Miranu territory, and it can start pretty much anywhere, although i have encountered it in Kitrak or Kirrim more often than not. The first mission they give you will be the hardest one you get, because the time limit is very strict and you will find yourself purchasing jump fuel off of passers-by rather than landing. Plan well. After that, it's pie. Of course, personally, if you are looking for power and are a bit more ambitious than the rest, you can always get yourself a UE Carrier, stock up on Defence Pods, and attempt the unmentioned vessel proclaimed uncapturable.
See ya on the star side

For the Their-Gribn run, if you have a cloaking device and 6 HUMAN freighters, then it's simple. The renegades ignore the frieghters, and the only costs you have to pay are for the frieghters and the tiny bit of fuel used. I like it.. but that's just me..

use my trick. a captured escort costs nothing sure theres the 120k to hire 1 mhf but the 1 M turnaround will get you more cr. faster than any other. check yourself, copy your pilot file and do them each 1 per pilot for 1 hour mine'll come out on top. 15 min. gets me 6 M.

Early in the game, I agree with Pikeman (above) - especially the Fertilizer run (thanks to the Voinian Ambassador). When exploring, I found the Chak (weapons) to Emalghia trade to be rewarding, with back trips through Dewe (Munb Leaves) to Himgro. While they are long they are relatively safe. With more competent ships and weapons, well ....... I haven't explored all of the suggestions given above, but they are on my list. Regards everyone
