I just registered today and was wondering exactly what that means? Oh, and a little something I noticed, though I may be the last to catch on, but the Igadzra, Azdgari and Zidagar all have names composed of exactly the same letters, I wonder if it has anything to do with their common origin and if there's any way to figure out what the original name was (without asking Matt Burch).

You know, did you even think to look in the web board guidelines? It's explained there, and even if it wasn't, the EVO board is not the place to ask.
Welcome to the boards. Have a nice day.

Karma is your staus on the boards. If your good you get karma. If your bad you lose it. When your karma is posotive you are doing well and when your karma is negative you are in trouble. Just be good and don't spam and everything will be fine

It's "Gadzair", named after the system Gadzair, the planet Gadzair, and worked out from the fact the mysterious Council sit in the middle of the three wars, in the Gadzair system.
Welcome to the boards.

Cut the guy some slack, Mikee. Almost nobody so new knows that, and many veterans don't.
Also if you dont want to lose Karma like me dont give sugestions to other people on what they should do, I'll let you think about that one...

I've been given karma for suggestions to other people about what they should do. I don't know about your situations... perhaps you were being inflamatory...
To Shrout1: hang around, be constructive, nice, helpful, and you'll soon do something worthy of a karma point.

Thanks a lot for all the help, and that Gadzair thing never even dawned on me, very interesting.
From what I've heard, a way to avoid a bad rep and flaming is to not post topics like this, but your newbie status grants you an exception. Forge, how did you get -41 posts?

It's forge, not "Forge". So no answer for you.

The Web Board Guidelines contain a basic explanation of karma. In addition, I offered the following advice somewhere or other a while back:
Don't ask for karma. That's one of the easiest ways to lose it. Don't go out of your way to try to get karma. Everyone who's tried this so far has ended up looking silly. The different moderators on the different web boards have their own personal values, so they may not all assign karma on the same basis. The maximum karma level is 15. People with "blessed" karma are moderators, and Andrew Welch, the web board administrator, has "divine" karma. If you have negative karma, it will automatically go up one point for every twenty posts you make, until it reaches zero again. Of course, if those twenty posts are spam, a moderator will just lower your karma again, so don't try to abuse the system.

A while back, Andrew Welch set forge's post count to -666 for a reason with which I am not acquainted. He later set forge's karma to 666 as well, despite the fact that the maximum is supposed to be 15.

Many Veterans should know, as should most people.
Seriously, it's amazing how many people contribute to the EV trilogy that many people don't even realize helped so much...

However, you shouldn't expect karma for every constructive, nice, or helpful thing you do. Moderators can't be everywhere all the time to see you doing these things.
