Anyone else thought that all this might make a great movie? You could certainly make a good one with EV1, most likely from the rebel side. There's definetly enough plot for it in EVO. Hell, Nova may make a great movie, depending on how good it turns out. It could even be a totally CGI movie, like Final Fantasy. Oh well, I doubt anyone has the resources to do something like that (even though I'm sure some of you have the time!), at least no-one on this webboard. Still, if anyone does I'd be happy to help out somehow. Let's just hope it doesn't turn out like Wing Commander or Dungeons & Dragons. Boy were they let-downs.

As good of an idea as the whole topic is, I really hope that it wouldn't be all CGI; I don't care what anyone says, the animation looked like ****. It didn't look real, it look completely fake. Its going to be a long time before they can replicate a human correctly; until then, we actors still hold something over technology.

EVula, need I tell you I kill for less insult to Square than that. <grins> I loved "The Spirits Within" - best movie I've ever seen in my life, so...erm...please don't. <smiles>
Escape Velocity...movie...hmm...no, a book would be better. Movies are bad.

Agreed. Movies almost always ruin the original storyline or plot of a book (and even a game). Books have always been the better source...

A book could actually be pretty fun to read. Provided it was written well of course.

No one on the EV board liked the idea...

For bad graphics, use Magma! It makes the graphics awesome!
There already is a book called Escape Velocity, actually. Though it is not similar even in category to our beloved EV.
But better than a book, I think an Escape Velocity game would be cool!
------------------ Knowledge is power, but ignorance is bliss.
I think that a EV movie would be cool, but you'd have to make it right. Like you would need to find one pilot and go through his life. Of course, it would be better if we added parts or things like old style ships, random configurations, disabling certin parts at random time, thigs like that. But beyond that, we could do something like have the parts that isn't of a space battle or something BE actors, and just have the space battles be computer generated. Then again we might even want to even do something like create some crazy new mini-plot. Or even have it coming from the point of some bounty hunter/mercinary/pirate.
If there is a movie, someone like andrew or Matt Burch should have oversight of the whole project. That might curb any deviations from the plot.
The sequels to the movie might consist of the F-25, Beyond the Crescent, Reign of the UE, or Reign of the Voinians plug-ins. Maybe even a few that don't follow the storyline, like Frozen Heart and Femme Fatale. Just a few ideas.

However, as many of those do not really exist in the EV universe, then it would be the descision of those who made them (Bomb, Martin Turner, etc.)

I actually created an Escape Velocity and Override board game a few years ago (and took roughly seven months to complete). The rules were based on that of the "Axis and Allies" series, while the board was composed of seventy-five different tiles (Hexagon shaped, each about ten inches in width), all of which could be placed in different locations and make each game different. Pieces took forever to make and cut out, but my brothers and I played it for months on end. Man, it was fun...
I think of all the series, EV Override would make the best movie. Escape Velocity and (it appears) EV Nova have a level of moral ambiguity which makes for a great game, but wouldn't go over well with a movie audience, so the moviemakers would probably just drop it.

I agree to some extent, but making a movie about ALL of EVO would be immensely difficult. So, I imagine it would almost exclusively focus on the war between Humanity and the Voinians.

I would say that while it was cleary not real actors, it was quite astounding in its detail. Every time one of these movies gets made, it'll get better. The time will come when distinguishing between real actors and CGA will be difficult if not impossible.

Hey it's me! Autonav! I'm at school, using to full extent the school's computers... Well, the movie idea is all well and good, but a book is always closer. And if the movie has to be made, then at laest follow the book, unlike that horrible old Hobbit...uh, we'll just call it a THING. Or an IT...

Wow, Captain Skyblade, that's sounds awesome! You should like send in the bleueprints of it to AmbrosiSW and maybe it could even become a boardgame!
About Escape Velocity: The Moive, it would have to start at the Great Expansion, and go through the history of EV up until the point where EV starts. Then, it would have to start with someone who aspired to be someone great, but still had a way to go. To make an EV moie really good, it would have to be around 3 hours long. It should end at like some time when the Rebellion is moving in, and then there would be a seque: Deep Strike , in which the Rebellion blasts into the Confederation with all their might. Through all of these movies, you'de have to incorporate a decent love story, or the movies would just be no good. It would have to be done just right, or we would end up with another movie like Titan AE, which was all special effects and just stroy. Story is by far the most important component of a movie.
Oh, well, it will probably never happen.

Just wait until I learn lightwave, which I'm doing as my senior project for English class...my topic is, coincidentally, "Will virtual actors ever replace real ones?" Anyway, an EV-based movie (even a short clip) would be fun but a lot of work.

Star Wars worked without almost ANY knowledge of what happened before. I think that EV could, too.
