You've got to do something about that navigation, I had to reload to get the top frame to work correctly. You've got text in the bottom frame that suggests that it is a link, but it isn't, and I assumed that the icon would be a link to download it; it wasn't.

Well, I have not the RAM to load Magma's reputed graphics...
Could someone give me a rundown of it, and whether it's worth buyinhg a few megs to beef EV:O up a little?

Yes, it is worth it! The graphics update is SPECTACULAR! (And every copy of "Reign of the UE" comes with a MAGMA edition.) The planet graphics look very cool, if somewhat unconventional (i.e. the planets themselves instead of the traditional planet surface. I can live with that- It was done in "Galaxy's Edge" a lot for the planet graphics).
Just one caveat- what happened to the Crescent Stations? I can understand the using one grahpics for the two stations, but why get rid of the Crescent Station graphic? The landing pic is still there- why not the in-flight pic too? If you do release a MAGMA 2.0.4, could you please put it back in?

I keep hearing about a 3/4 view? Wouldn't this cause problems with EV's flat engine?

Hmm... I had no idea there we problems with the crescent station graphics. I'll look into it, the station should have both new in-flight and landing pics. (Well, new since MAGMA 2.0, anyway.) -david-

Strange. I must confess I never liked Magma. Everything just looks...
Let me put it this way. The smaller ships look like a serious mistake with a plate of metal and a machette. I can't even tell if the little grey shapes are connected...

I think that the plug is absolutly AWSOME.... but I have a question.... I had to use the lightner plugin as everything looked too dark... Well This is my question... you see I noticed that when I looked at my ship... a CW.... I noticed that the image was checkered with black spots... Is this because I used the lightener.... I dont know... but I noticed that it makes the graphics look really bad... like my ship doesnt even look whole... but see I think it is me and not magma cause the Azdari CW looked fine... ie... no pixelation in black... any ideas....?

Well, it's just that in previous versions of MAGMA, there was a Crescent Station graphic (ResEdit spin ID #326, graphic PICT ID # 2026, mask PICT # 2038) as well as a landing PICT (RedEdit PICT ID # 10026). Now, in MAGMA 2.0.3., the Cresecnt Station (now renamed Station II) has the picture ID # 2025 and the mask PICT ID # 2060, though it keeps the same landing PICT. Those who have looked at MAGMA with ResEdit know that the PICT IDs 2025 and 2060 are, repsectively, the picture and mask for what was once the MAGMA replacement for the doubled-ringed human station. Granted, that station was an eyesore, and has been repleaced in the newer versions of MAGMA by a the same graphic as the single-ringed human station (graphic PICT #2024, mask PICT #2059). Still, the original Crescent Station graphics, IMHO, should be restored.

Yeah, it does if you're the kind of pilot who likes to fire unguided weapons. If you're pointing in a non-cardinal direction (not straight up, down, left or right) your missiles and front-mounted guns shoot out as if they need recalibrating. I simply love Voinian rockets (not the turreted ones), so I don't use MAGMA. If there was a pure top-down version, I might.
Buy some RAM though... it's never been cheaper, and it can change a lot of things about your Mac, not just EV:O.

Well, although RAM might be cheap, I doubt I'll purchase much, if any. My only mac (The 'rents have decided Windoze was a better choice Gag) is an ancient powerpc laptop, and doing much with it would likely not be worth it.
Hell, I can't even get 8-bit graphics to work, and I don't even want to BEGIN with my OS and Stuffit versions. Besides, I love my rockets more than graphics, so I wouldn't go for that 3D thing...doesn't sound like it would be bug-free, with EV:O's engine being based solely on 2D, top-down view.

Well, I'm guessing that our friend VoinianAmbassador has never actually tried MAGMA; if he had, he would know that I re-rendered all the rockets and missiles to avoid the problem. Just turn on VM and take MAGMA for a spin - it's free, so what have you got to lose? -david-
