Strand Names

Call me slow, but although I have known since the game came out that the Igadzra, Azdgari, and Zidagar use the same set of letters in their names, It only occurred to me about five minutes ago that those letters can also be rearranged to spell Gadzair.

I don't know if other people have discovered this, but please tell me if you have or haven't.

Yes. In the plug "Beyond the Crescent" this was noted.

Millennium. Its coming, prepare for it.
Coming to the (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiaSW.com/games/ev/chronicles.html")EV Chronicles(/url).

I am not making fun of spoonbender but this is a good example of why we need the search back. He could have easily searched that question out if he had the chance.

Yep, when I first learned the Council had something to do with the Strands, it was easy to see.

True, but until then, don't worry about it.

What do you think the fifth strand might be called?
The, uh, RADZIGA? I've tried various permutations, and that appears to be one of the better alternatives.

I got this .sig file at insanely_great.com - don't even think about taunting me!

Igadzra
Zidagar
Azdgari
Gadzair

Hmm.... "I", "Z", "G" and "A" are used. That leave the letters:

D R

So, unless it begins with the same letter, it has to start with D or R.

Dazriga

How's that?

Also:
Darziga
Dagzira

<yawn> Oh, and technically it would be the 4th Strand. Gadzair doesn't count, as
Gadzair represents the whole.

I recall being told in BTC that humanity was the (stunted) fourth strand. What we're supposed to be called in council language is not revealed, though. Probably Grazida or something.

Well, that's a plugin designer's opinion. Not outright fact.

They're all pretty bad.

I'd love to see you come up with better, Jess! You'd probably spell out "FLIRT"
in big letters.......

------------------
Fear not the dragon,
Fear not the wolf,
Fear not the warship,
Fear my Crescent Fighter.

Or possibly the Rizadga. Or maybe even the Digzaar. Possibly the Drigaza.

P.S. SIlverDragon, your suggestions on alternative Strand names were actually pretty good. But nothing compared to mine.

In feeping with the middle ages theme of today's Blue Peter, we'll be learning how to make our own Iron Maiden.
You will need: Some Thick Cardboard
Some Kebab Skewers and
A bicyle chain.

<laughs> Whatever, Jess. Come on then - try it. You'll TRY to say something sensible,
but you'll end up spelling "FLIRT". <grins>

How about Izgari?

1. No "d".
2. Too much like Igadzra and Azdgari.....

Fear not the dragon,
Fear not the wolf,
Fear not the warship,
Fear my Crescent Fighter.

Woo!

Rizgada
Digraza
Radgazi
Dizarag
Riazgad

Anyone else notice that these all sound like prescription drugs?

It's all a game. Fiction. There are no facts to be connected with the culture of EV:O, except in as much as we mutually choose to accept the universe of EV:O for the purposes of
participating in these discussions. Does the primacy of Override make it more true or real than Beyond the Crescent? Does its more widespread usage? I say no.

(We must be careful. By that argument, PCs are better than Macs because they've been around since 1979, and there are more of them.)

Yeah. And the active ingredient in Viagra is called Mycoxafloppin.

The first letters of the names of the four strands spell 'GIZA' a place in Egypt - this was part of the BTC string as there was some sort of stargate thing going on - a hyperlink from Earth to a 'mirror' Earth. I reckon that when EVO was developed the team left loads of unsolved mysteries (e.g there being 2 kelmaons and Gadzair being an anagram of all the other strands) on purpose to provide plug in developers with ideas.

Hmmm... here is a crazy out there idea. Maybe, just mmaybe the two systems were randomly the same. Like the emhelga word for "Dog food" and the gadzairian (Whatever) word for "This is a system." Or maybe the two copied each other. Is that planetary plagerism?
