This is another tactic that I always use, it is kinda similar to the Monty Python, I just wonder if anyone else does this. This move only works if your ship is fast. It works in many situations, I use it mostly when I want to land on a planet and there are hostile ships around. First you get all the ships behind you chasing, as if doing the Monty Python, this works well with other fast ships like fighters. Anyway, you lead them away from the planet and suddenly make a sharp turn, not a 180, but more of a U-turn, you then are jetting towards the planet, and the chasing fighters "whip" way far away from you, because of the inertia of the chase. This gives you time to land on the planet without being mobbed by fighters, it works like a charm!

Yeah, I do that too. Or at least I did untill I got the cloaking device. It works really well unless you find a couple ships had given up the chase and you bump into them on the way back.

I have done that for ages but it annoying when there are big and small ships because the big ships lag behind and get in the way

Thanks, I'll try it. probably works even better using an afterburner on the way back. Jude

Great move! I use it all the time! Now it's got a name! And you know when it's really great to use it, right? When you're in strict mode. It helps incredibally.

heh, I have forever been using that. Now it has a name. Not a battle tactic but a nice one nevertheless.

Oh, I love doing that, although I usually use this tatic in combat. Make a sharp "U" turn (usually in my upgraded Arada) and while doing so, target one of the fighters, turn toward it and let off a burst of your swivel phase cannons. I perfer doing it over the Monty Python, because I don't feel like I'm cheating, and it is much more fun.

Hmm....I use this move as well, but I only use the 'whip' maneuver only when I'm low on armor or shields. If I was trying to land on a planet but had full shields I'd blast any enemy outta the sky. With the help of my five UE Fighters of course. Also, I use a maneuver that only works in a fast ship, and can be used on anything with a weapon that only fires towards the front. It goes like this: get behind the enemy, and fire your main weapon at him and he'll turn around, so fly around him to his back again and fire. If you're good enough with the controls like me, you'll be able to fly around him while facing him at the same time and fire your weapon on him without sustaining much, if not any damage. If you're using this on something with only cannons and/or rockets, this is very effective (especially against Voinian H. Fighters, and if you have swivel cannons).

Yeah I use that all the time.

I used that move a lot in EV... there's quite a few missions where speedy fighters will chase you around early in the game. I don't really use it much anymore, except as a general maneuver in a major battle.

Circling around behind enemy ships and shooting from behind is rather hard. You can only do that if your enemy is a sluggish UE Carrier or Voinian capital ship...Otherwise, I never have time to shoot when I get behind "the bad guy." The only possibility is, once again, to use swivel cannons, let off a quick burst and try to get behind the hostile target again. I guess I'm just not good at the controls. :frown:
Ever tried Pursit Missles (jedibrass grins REAL big :D)? They are WONDERFUL!! They're like the javlin rockets from the Original EV and the Needle Missles!! They're fast and VERY Effective. Anybody else use them often? They only draw back is that they cost a pretty penny, but what a missle, eh?
Cheers, Jedibrass

Pursuit Missles are incredible, but soemtimes inaccurate. They are good if you want to kill someone really fast. Just get close and launch them out of your 3 launchers :D. I use them mainly against Voinians. They seem to kill them faster than any other missles or rockets.

Actually, I've only used Persuit Missiles once, since their guidence is so screwed up. Every time I fire them, all they do is spin around in circles unless you point your ship right torward the hostile target. I would much rather use hunter missiles or SAD modules.
I use that a lot in my "ultimate" Corvette in my EV game, my ships in EV:O aren't fast enough.

Titan, I love LOTR too (my IRC nick is Strider), so I'd like to verify your quote. According to the book, it is:
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie. One Ring to rule them all. One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Well, Titan was close enough. I've read the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy four times, and I'm just about finished reading "Return of the King" for the fifth time. Definately the best series of books ever written. Anyway, I've always loved that quote.
I have only read it twice
I think the beginning is:
Three for the Elven lords under the sky Seven for the dwarven kings in their halls of stone Nine for the mortal men doomed to die One for the dark lord on his dark throne In the land of mordor where the shadows lie
that is off the top of my head
That's right, I think.
Off the top of my head, of course.
