The (url="http://"http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~dsghosh/evosite/shipyard3.html#arada")Arada(/url) is my favorite ship because (like the description on the web site says) it's just so versatile. It can beat almost any ship in the game, when properly outfitted, and it's great for hauling cargo through renegade-infested territory. This ship killed the (url="http://"http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~dsghosh/evosite/shipyard2.html#vdreadnought")Dreadnought(/url), many, many (url="http://"http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~dsghosh/evosite/shipyard4.html#zidara")Zidaras(/url), the Nadir, and tons of other ships. The only mission this thing hasn't been able to do is the Attack the Rock mission at the end of the Zachit string. It's great.
Now that doesn't mean there's nothing better, or that the Arada is perfect. The (url="http://"http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~dsghosh/evosite/shipyard3.html#cresw")Crescent Warship(/url) is wonderful, if you're willing to give up a bit of speed; the (url="http://"http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~dsghosh/evosite/shipyard4.html#azda")Azdgari Arada(/url) is better, if you manage to capture one; and, of course,(url="http://"http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~dsghosh/evosite/shipyard2.html#voinian")Voinian ships(/url) are much better in the Crescent, although getting them is hard as heck. Overall, though, the Arada is great in all areas -- price, firepower, defense, cargo capacity, speed... It's a wonderful ship. There are better in some areas, but, considering all aspects of all ships, nothing beats an Arada.

Perfection? Well maybe. Just maybe. It doesn't seem like that stron of a ship until you upgrade it. I don't use it much but when I do I really like it's speed. No actually I don't think aradas are perfect.

No, the Aradas are NOT perfect, they are just much more powerful then an average ship of its size. Their power comes in upgrades, so I would say the Arada can be close to perfect when in the player's hands.
The Arada is great, but with the Exp. Shield Generator available it isn't perfect.
The very best is the Crescent Fighter (actually the Zachit Fighter but that isn't available). There comes a point where you don't need any more money, especially if all you're buying is an upgraded Crescent fighter, so capacity isn't important.
With Exp.Shield Generator and the other shield upgrades, it can take on almost any warship toe to toe, and no Crescent pilot even needs to go toe to toe.
Without any upgrades, I took on eight Crescent Warships with one fighter. It is SO easy - hit and run, various cheats...........
