AN EPIC ESCAPE VELOCITY ADVENTURE BY THE DIVINE ROOSTER MODERATED IN PART BY DAEDALUS
THIS IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT STORY THAN THE LBS, SO ANYBODY CAN JUMP RIGHT IN AT ANY TIME.
RULES: You may control only your own character. No total destruction. Your posts may only account for one weeks time and one day's action. No undefeatable protections. Tech and Civil advances are made during the set timeframe. Lifepads (small shield protection modules) may be used while aboard one's own or affiliated structure, and warsuits (suits with life support and shielding) may be used given time to put one on before going onto a hostile structure. Thread Moderators may revoke your posts at any time if they do not follow these rules. Anything acquired or developed must be noted. Background developments are allowed only by moderators.
INTRO: OK, people. I've decided that whoever was in command of a large nation in the LBS will now be on their own with a small fleet of their design and very limited size. As well, nonparticipants or small nation owners will now have the opportunity to control large empires or join us as roamers. The nations sizes will be decided upon current EVO standards (choose Iggy, Ziggy, UE, etc.). We will sort out these territories until the story begins.

I would like to be a roamer as well. At least for now. I might slowly aquire some land.
CONTINUATION: Buba waited in the cold alley of one of Voina's main citys. Checking his watch he wrapped his cloak around him a little tighter hoping his rendezvous would appear shortly. Buba was no man for being patient, especially on such a cold, dark, planet filled with ugly aliens.
Just as he was about to leave the dark figure that Buba assumed to be his contact appeared from the smokey depths of the alleyway.

How exactly does this work? It looks fun and I'd like to join in, but I have no idea where to start. I've looked at the original "Light Behind the Shadow" post and parts 2 and 3, but I'm still not sure exactly how it's supposed to work. Maybe someone can answer my questions:
1. Is this supposed to be set in the EVO universe, or an edited version of it? I noticed all kinds of different races and even an edited map in the previous LBS posts.
2. Do we invent our own governments, control existing governments, work for governments, as mercenaries, or is it our choice? I've noticed examples of what looks like each in previous LBS posts.
Those are my questions. If someone could answer them it would be great.
Man... I go away for 6 months and come back and have no idea what's going on... and feeling like a complete newbie...

I'll let rooster 'officially' answer this but basicly it starts in a normal EVO universe but is slowly edited with peoples actions. Also, ask Rooster or Daedulus if you want to own a goverment, or you could just be a roamer. And you can also slowly obtain planets and make your own goverment through your actions. Check with Rooster first though before you start posting.

Sure, as long as we can keep from confusing Rama with Rima :). And to answer Thunder's questions:
1. All technology is set in the EVO universe. Nothing from the LBS is being used, unless that nation develops it again in Red Horizon. Everything is starting over.
2. You can be a roamer and work for yourself and for hire, or own your own nation. It's entirely your choice how your nation develops but choose one of the original territory sections in the EVO universe. For example, Carnotaur previously opened his nation on the territory owned by the Azdgari. This was in the LBS though, and anybody can now own Azdgari territory.
The LBS series are totally different from this one. In them, people controlled their own governments and the map was very different from the original one. There were also many new races. The Red Horizon is different. In this one there are smaller governments, and no new races (am I correct on that, Rooster?). I myself am going to be a roamer, a mercenary, and independent pilot. However, I am hoping to eventually create myself a small government.

Nova may open his own nation on the territory the Voinians currently own. Titan may also open his own nation on Zidagar territory.
Name: Rooster Clan: Corocijak Race: Human-Miranu Origin: Saalia, UE Occupation: Hired Operative Description: Rooster was born on Saalia, where he acquired a large amount of knowledge in Quantum Mechanics and Starship Technology. He was admitted to the United Earth Academy and served aboard the U.E.S. Defiance as a Ship Operations Officer. He soon recieved honorable discharge from the UE and established residence on Station Pybin. His work to defend the station against a raid was rewarded with a rather large amount of credits, which eventually grew to fund his warship, the Zodiac.

Nova, of course understand that the Voinians are yours. You are in no way obligated to give Lonevoinian a position in your government. However, if he coes to your capitol and respectfully requests a position, you may give it to him.

Character profile: Name: Thunder Race: Kayan (Strandless, from the planet Kayia in the Akrahyek system) Ship: Zidara Ship specs: Outfitted with speed upgrades (RCS, Engine enhancement, Acceleration enhancement). Weapons - 2 carried Zidagar fighters, 5 phase turrets, 1 UE rocket launcher, 2 pursuit missile launchers, and a generous supply of Miranu defense pods. Shields - 200 Armor - 50

A battle raged between militia forces and renegades in the Akrahyek system. Three renegade laziras were attacking several militia aradas and crescent fighters. Suddenly a fleet of five aradas, and a Zidara jumped into the system, and joined in with the militia forces to eradicate the renegade threat.
Once the battle was complete, the small fleet landed in Kayia's capitol city, and Thunder, leader of the fleet, proceeded to make his way to the governor's office. Upon entering the room, the Governor greeted Thunder warmly. He had helped the Kayan militia fend off renegade attacks on multiple occasions before. After a breif conversation, Thunder got down to the point.
"Kayia and South Tip Station are taking a beating from these constant renegade attacks. And so are the systems around us. We've got to put a stop to it. And I'm willing to help."

Description: Titan was born on Earth, He led a group of explorers into the Creacent, they maid contact with the Zidagar, they settled on Zidagar. With the help of most of the Zidagar military they took over the all of Zidagar space and setup there own goverment.

Applause, Thunder! You catch on quick! Also everybody remember i'm a HIRED operative and i can be payed or persuaded to do a job. Usually i do things for free if it's a just cause. And Imthebest (which we will call you as you need a short name in these things), that's great that you own Zachit Station, but if you could provide a little more info that would be appreciated. Stuff like if you're hostile against anybody or have some main plan of action.
Oh yeah...Rooster celebrates his birthday aboard the Zodiac (for real).
Name: Bubaganoosh (Buba) Clan: None (Freelance) Race: Hunan Origin: Pariah Occupation: Smuggler for Hire Description: Buba was born on Pariah, son of a Renegade Mercenary, he quickly learned the ways of mercenary skills. After his parents were killed by the onslaught of UE Ships that destroyed the settlements on the small planet, Buba escaped into a life of smuggling.

As Bubaganoosh and his contact talk, Carnotaur walks up to them. Recognizing Buba, Carnotaur asks Buba what he's doing on Voinia.
Continuation:
Buba motions for his Voinian contact to wait and walks over to Captain. Buba: "Hey buddy! Long time no see!" Captain: "Yea..." he grunted. "Same to you. Now what are you doing on Voina?" Buba: "Well... it is kinda a secret." says Buba lowering his voice a little so the Voinian doesn't here. Captain: "Still leading a life of smuggling, eh?" asked Captain. Buba smiles, "Yep, hold on one second while I finish up here. Then we should go talk. I here the bars here aren't bad?" Not waiting for an answer Buba returns to the dark shady figure and proceeds to do a little chatting. A few objects are exchanged and then Buba and the shady figure depart, "Alright, I'm ready..."
