I have just downloaded EV Override and I see no correlation between the plots of EV and EVO. Why not? I thought it was supposed to be a sequel. Somebody please tell me what's going on!
------------------
Wherever did you get the idea that EV and EVO are directly related? EVO is only a sequel in that it's basically the same game with an updated engine.

Well, sequel is supposed to mean that the storyline continues the first game. A the same game with a new engine would be another version.
Well, whoever told you they were related in a sequel sense was wrong. EV and EVO share only a base engine (not even the same version, though) and gameplay style (actually, that's what's most important to us, it seems). The stories, universes, ships, etc. (though some graphics are shared) are different.
I hope that cleared that up for you.
EVO is a totally new galaxy and a totally new storyline.

EVO is more like a "prequal" to EV. Have you noticed the correlation between the EVO destroyers and the Rebel destroyers?

No such thing.
COMPLETELY different universe. COMPLETELY different storyline. Sorry.

The main similarity between EV and EVO is this: They have the same basic idea. Fly around in a ship, do missions, get money, shoot ships, have fun, perpetual (eternal) game. It never ends. THAT is what makes EV, EVO, and definitely EVN so good.
P.S. It would also be interesting to compare the ships in EV and EVO. For instance, the Confed Frigate and Rebel Destroyer have about the same shielding as a Crescent Warship. However, the Rebel Destroyer only costs 2.4 million credits. What does that say? The CW is overpriced in my opinion.
------------------ To Escape Velocity: Nova and Beyond! -------------- Millennium. Its coming, prepare for it. Coming to the (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiaSW.com/games/ev/chronicles.html")EV Chronicles(/url).
As I see, EV and EVO are similiar battles taking place in two different universes, storywise.
To Carno: I don't know, if you ask me, I always thought the rebel destroyer was always a little cheap for so much firepower... That ship was great!! And an updated Argosy at that!!!

that's why it isn't called EV2, like OF said, it's a different universe, you don't need to play EV to play EVO.

Somebody called EVN a threequel to EV, but since EVO isn't a sequel how can you have a threequel? Also, does anybody know whether EVO will be related to EVN? Probably not, but I was just wondering

I've been wondering that too. Does EVO have the exact same parameters for resources as EV or not?

Threequel in the sense that it's the third game made using the EV base engine. And no, it's not in the least related to EVO, save for the fact that Nova was originally designed to be the ultimate EVO total conversion plugin.

Similar, but enhanced in many ways.

No. There are small differences, especially with version 1.0.2.
EVN, however, will be TOTALLY different.
EVN? Have I missed something here? Escape Velocity what. What's the 'N' stand for. Is that a new one? Must be. I'll have a snoop on the main site.

The "N" stands for "Nova." EV Nova has a webboard (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number;=26&SUBMIT;=Go")here(/url).

if you are interested in playing the original EV with the EVO engine, you can use the EV-classic plug-in, available at: (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl?path=evo/plugins&file;=evclassic.sit.bin")www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl?path=evo/plugins&file;=evclassic.sit.bin(/url)

Ok think of this chain of events:
1. Voinians get a bunch of new shield technology and abandon thier armor for more manuverable ships 2. The UE conqure the Voinians anyway. 3. The UE sets up a new Confederation, which eveuntally takes over the UE government. 4. The Confederation becomes corrupt 5. The Rebellion starts
You have just gone from the EVO universe to the EV universe.
Then...
6. The Rebellion conqures the Confederation, and becomes the Magellan Empire...
------------------ Cuz I'm a 21st Century Digital Boy I don't know the Monty Python but I've got a lotta toys My daddy is a Renegade, his name is Hellcat Helian Wait a second...
that seems a bit far-fetched, i think. there's absolutely no hints to this plot-line in either of the games, or any of the manuals. plus, i don't see the voinians changing their ships like that.

But before that, the layout of the galaxy and the number of systems and planets and the names of most systems spontaeneously randomize and shift around a lot.
