I was just wondering how many people here play the original EV on a regural basis. And how many perfer it to the sequals, and why. I like it for the fact that , well I just like it. EV Override was never a real favourite, it was pretty much a giant plug-in, while EV Nova, although very fun, just didn't have that same feel to it.

Because I like all EVs equally. Even if I like Novas features like Hypergates and better graphics, and like EVO too, I still like EV. I still havent done everything in EV, because I havent used Heavy Rockets or flown a Confed Frigate. And there is so much plug-ins avaible... Currently I am playing the first Empire plug-in, War Without End. In EVO I like the giant universe with a lot of different goverments, and the wide plug-in selection.

Notin beats the origional. Besides, EV:O and EV:N don't work on my Centris 650

...and since i've been too lazy to port the previously mentioned (plugins!) to EVN.
It was the coolest. It had the most plugs, and it was just the most fun to play.

I play it in order to try and get a perfect game I'm sure it can be done, kind of. After beating the Aliens with the confeds, I managed to get the Rebel switch over mission, but I never did get any Rebel missions after that. I think I made a mistake in completing the confed mission I was on after switching sides.

The Rebel switch overs are a dead end. But there is a plug you can download to fix that.
Is that so? Well, that would explain the whole..no mission...thing. Plug eh? Tell me more.
The others just don't have the same feel.

What an amazingly grown up conversation. I left this board many years ago now because of the alarming increase in, ahem, idiots frankly, and look what my nostalgia trip brought me! Just out of curiosity, how many here (except for EVula then) remember the good old yellow text board with the spider on top?

Escape Velocity.. well has kind of grown on me. I don't post on this board usually.. actually I usually post not that much at all. But I've played quite a few plugs (not all of 'em).. I've never played EVGE, for example and have a list of plugs on my hd waiting. Anyway, I'd say nostalgia combined with a very fine game and galaxy. I'll choose EV over EVO any day. And of course, it has the clipper.

I briefly attempted to make a TC for Nova, that has since died due to lack of time and other commitments. When designing ships, I described all of them as "argosy-like" or "clipper-like," by which I meant the feel more than the look. The clipper and argosy just have a FEEL to how they fly that hasn't been matched in any of the sequels. Yeah, they aren't the strongest, but they were the most fun to pilot.

I found the website for Pale, but the download link was dead. Is theere anywhere else to download it?
I play it because there is a free port for it to EVN, and I felt like reliving those wonderful years.
