Does anybody have any advice on getting the ten million for the kestral? I do not want to start the rebel and confederate strings just yet, and would like to refrain from pirating anything but other pirates. I'm in a corvette with four clipper escorts.

If you land on a pirate planet/station you may get a mission to help out a guy in a blue unifrom (UGE Shipping). You get a few $100k, and then get to accept UGE missions on the mission computers. These can pay much more than standard rush missions, and pay a bonus for delivering to pirate systems. However the chance of getting this mission is fairly rare and requires a decent combat rating. Most of the time I have gotten that mission from the Southern Pirate system, but I believe I have received it from all four, though I may be mistaken. First time I played EV through I got a kestrel in an hour two of getting UGE missions.

Hunt pirate kestrels. They usually carry a good amount of cash, and they have a decent crew size for combat rating purposes.

Or you can pirate lugury liners near Capella. Sure the fads will be pissed at you but they are easy to kill and bring in 75k, at times. You can get the fake ID later on once you are filthy ritch, and do that over and over again.

Dominate a few planets, like levo, kathoon and opal. (they only send out defenders) and then land and leave a planet constantly and you'll have the 10 million in no time. you can also use this to build up a fleet of Kestrels. By buying a kestrel then capturing something small and making it your ship so the kestrel becomes your escort. do this until you have 6 kestrel escorts and one for yourself.

But first, sell all major outfits to it. Like selling your lightnings, cos they're worth 1mil and the outfits are reset when they become escorts.

UGE is good, and get the mission on Diphidia II. It will give you a million and a bad record with the Confeds. That is how I start with the Rebels.
