Tutorial Problems

New to the game, I just downloaded / registered the game last night and everything seems to work fine until I get to the middle of the second tutorial.

I can connect to the test server, crack the password and copy the needed file, but I when the time comes to download the file into an open slot in the memory banks it won't seem to go. Is there something I"m doing wrong, or is this a known / reported bug?

Please advise.

Some questions:
Has this worked before ?
It's suggested to create a new account when you've registered the game. Have you tried with a new one ?
The program (like anything else you copy to your bank) take one or more memory slots. Are you sure you've enough slots for it? I think it's two for the test file.

Try copying it to the top of the largest open space you have.

Six. I'm pretty sure it's six. They make you copy this titanic file for your first hack. Not like it matters when you bounce it off of 30-something servers...

Six Gq ?
I couldn't remember well now. The tutorial is a long way behind me.
And just so you know, there's some missions where you have to copy 80-90 Gq of data...

And you say you take 30 bounces for the first hack !?
Six bounces is far enough for this one. What will it be when you'll be hacking banks, or some high protected mainframes ?

Nah, I just copy a bunch of addresses over from InterNIC, set up my bounces, save them, and use the same set until I get to the GCD missions, where I go looking for more. Besides, it's kinda nice to be able to delete every item on a fileserver, clean up after yourself, disable their piddly little monitor, and disconnect -- while the trace is STILL at 7%. I haven't registered yet, so I have to get my laughs SOMEHOW. Moving on to hacking banks now...

Good luck with the banks, they've a fast active trace.
And personnaly, I prefer stealing money and buying a great (and damn expensive) custom gateway with enough room for as many CPUs as you want.
I like my 16000 Ghz.

p.s. Buy the bypassers and sell the disablers. Bypassing don't start a trace.

Yes, I know. I made the mistake of thinking that if I disabled the proxy and clicked on the log, I'd bring up the person's name (for the trace an unusual transfer missions). Needless to say, I soon got booked for Unlawful Entry or some such rigamarole. And as for buying good gateways, the game won't let me use any customs until I register... Which leaves me only one option... No, not to crack the game, you pervs, to register.

With the bypassers, the only hitch is that I need more money to be able to buy the bypassers... And the quickest and best way to get that is by robbing a bank... You see the problem?

For buying a bypasser, you need money.
Having money require you to rob a bank.
BUT you need a bypasser.

Exactly. And also be quick! A bank passive trace start a very short time after you hacked the password. I heard it's one or two minutes.
And, second thing, a passive trace will never stop. Be sure to delete the logs with the v4 log_deleter, or you'll be caught.

It give you the ability of recovering your game if you were too long while hacking your first bank.

Just out of curiosity, why does everybody call it a pilot file? I know I do it by mistake sometimes just from having played the EV series for so long, but what is everybody else's reasons? All the same?
