Current Progress of Games

I have been watching the webboard for a while and a question kept popping into my head about the other games made on ColdStone. So I've decided to ask every one how their games are coming along. Anyone who reads this if you could reply about what game you are working on and other info like status or just information on it. Here is the information on my game.

Cool! Keep it up!

I'm now setting up the crafting sequence for around 100 items. I yo-yo between creating the events for it and making the graphics and items. This should be the last of the game-wide events I need to figure out. After this, I'll begin to plug in the stories.

Glad to know someone else is making a game!!

I have 3 things going on at the moment. 2 are games and one isn't.

The one that isn't is learning PHP and then re-making the site-that-must-not-be-named (sorry, I'm reading Harry Potter and I couldn't resist 😉 )

Then after that I have Ghosts of Time 1.0.3 and Space to work on.

GoT 1.0.3 is being released as soon as the update is released as it should only be fixes that are caused due to a recompile in the new version

Space is on hold, again because of the update, but also because i want to get Strata CX before I start modelling anything. I guarantee you that there will be a preview/demo of it by christmas. I say preview as I may have to substitute some graphics for PoG graphic if I haven't had time to make them though this is only likely to be for the NPC's

I guess I'd better give one of those status update things that Efeion did then

Name: Space
Status: Waiting on ColdStone Update & Strata CX
Number of big maps/completed: 300+/0
Music: Starting after I have some other work done
WebSite: (url="http://"http://www.mcubedsw.com/games/space")www.mcubedsw.com/games/space(/url)
Started: Spring 2004
Due Out: Autumn/Winter 2005
Current Project Size : 37MB (Entire project folder
Platforms to be supported: Mac/Win
Side Quests: Many
Main Character: Either a human, Jekhani or Tetrean (and I think I have spelt them wrong 😛 )
Boss Fights: N/A
Other Info: I plan to start on a plug in soon after the game has been released. I might release some graphics sets of graphics I make but do not use

Oh Yes, I am playing your game right now. (Ghosts of Time) I like the plot. One question even though a little off topic... What do you do on the space level?

You need to get to the alien who needs his engine fixing and then find the engine part. He will then lower the bridge.

As have I Efeion, as it seems either most have jump ship on Coldstone until "The Update" comes (if it does), or are hard at work with their titles. Or, there is simply not much to talk about. Status for me is that I have 3 projects as well in the works, two of which are of my own. The third is the lead role of none other than that of interface graphic artist for GrahamVH's 'The Island' (Formally known as Legends). I think that is coming along nicely, but any questions regarding this should be forwarded to Graham himself and not I.
Also, I have about 78% preproduction planning of a project I had mentioned quite some time ago, dubbed 'Doomsnare'. The most I'm doing now is the artwork for the characters, and they are looking great (Sketchwise). Final drafts of these mockups are just 'round the corner.....To give any idea what this game will be like, think Dark Tides.
Also, the 'ZWP', a project in which I had leaked before about flushing out the egos of each distinguished 'person' on the board has not been dropped, I'll have you guys know. Preproduction Planning of this is up to the 20% mark.
All good stuff....
Also Efeion, in regards to your game, I had a few questions in which to ask you; but I do not wish to ask them here. PLEASE give me an email of some sort whereas I can clear some things up with you. I think you will be pleased with this bit of information, pending if I recieve an email from you.
All eyes on the home stretch.......
Lets have a clean race!
Good luck to all!

I can't announce anything as I don't even get a valid version of CS!... But I explored the demo version, created a few very small test games and I'm still very enthousiastic about this game engine...

With the help of a friend, I already prepared docs, scripts & graphics for two projetcs to be made with Coldstone :

1 - A reconstitution of the Turtle Island at the Pirates time (not really a game)
2 - "BIG CITY" : A game where you play a 5 years old boy / girl lost in a city after a school trip.

At the moment, to be really sincere, we already started to explore alternative ways to develop these projects (pilot in Flash / demo real / other Game Engine) as we're loosing confidence and patience.

These two projects are "fun and educational" and dedicated to kids (5 to 11)... This is why we're more lookin for either a producer or an efficient and easy game engine.
As we are also involved in "nature/educational" programs (recycling/nature protection... etc), we would also like to adapt some in an interactive version, eventually made with coldstone.

In case the CS update would come before end of June, we would be abble to show a "level one beta" of our 2 games in October 2004, in order to start looking for partners.

In case CS update never comes, we'll produce pilots in Flash to be released by the end of this year.

------------------

I'm sure the update will come. Otherwise ambrosia might have a slight revolt on their hands 😉 . Though as I have said in another thread, David Dunham has said that the update is in "Active Development".

After 2 previous starts and halts in creating game ideas, I've found a manageable first game idea for creation which is coming along really well. I began production a little over a month ago on what is hopefully the first Coldstone Western. I've developed the basic premise, an interesting main character, and a few features that I feel if I can pull it off right will make this action/adventure/rpg CGE game stand out amoungst the traditional fantasy styled games. I have finished some main concept work as far as characters, have charted out all major globals and have worked out what features I'm developing. Currently working on a website to post progress so everyone can readily watch it's development. I'm using a reputation system so that the player can interact with different people and gain different objectives/missions based upon their "goodness" or "badness" which ever they prefer. Working out whether or not to traditionally animate and illustrate the whole game (time consuming but well worth the results) or go ahead and model the characters in 3D. Currently leaning towards illustrating and digitally coloring.

Name: "Wild Western" (Working title)
Status: Currently finishing concepts and working on finals for characters
Number of big maps: Currently none
Music: Have few song titles set and am recording more
WebSite: To be announced
Started: Spring 2004
Current Project Size: N/A
Platforms to be supported: Mac/Win
Side Quests: Mostly side quests
Main Character: To be announced
Boss Fights: N/A
Other Info: More info to be released shortly

It turns out there are about 12 other projects/movies/novels/games with the name "Dark Tides", so we're thinking about dropping that and leaving the "Renegade Heroes". It wasn't all that an original title in the first place, but that was partly the point. We've been dropping features and cutting extras (like the preview and over-ambitious website) to get this done. The game is definitely more simplistic than when we started, but the story remains as complex as before.

Name: Dark Tides: Renegade Heroes
Status: Currently doing mapmaking and finishing graphics
Number of big maps: 10 areas, 6 of which are multi-level
Music: We'll see
WebSite: See sig
Started: Summer 2003
Current Project Size: 25 MB (compiled)
Platforms to be supported: Mac/Win
Side Quests: Collectibles, easter egg hunts, dispatches, one side quest for each major NPC
Main Character: Either (boy) a prince in hiding, or (girl) a jester on the run
Boss Fights: Aplenty
Other Info: Expect puzzles.

From what I have seen being developed, and the Coldstone games currently produced, I am the most intrigued and amazed by Dark Tides: Renegade Heroes. I was here when you first proposed it, and it appears to be the most polished looking game as far as graphically. The characters, npc's, floors, walls, items, interfaces, all have the same great style. I believe you are to be pulling off the best Coldstone game yet, this is one I am greatly looking forward to playing. Not to say that the other coldstone games aren't each very interesting, but I have been the most impressed by Myshkyn's project as of yet. Great work, and let me know if you need a beta tester. Out of curiousity is this a solo project for you, or do you have others helping you out on this?

Wow. Thanks.

Technically there are three of us, but it's mostly me. This is primarily my project.

We have a group ready to beta test, but I'll keep in mind your offer. If we need to go outside that group I will let you know.

Keep up the good work, everyone.

While I believe it will be one of the best games yet I wouldn't go as far to give it the title of the best Coldstone game yet. Remember, there are still several other games out there that we haven't seen much of yet. Though that still doesn't stop me drooling. The graphics in it must have take your team ages myshkin.

And I hope that by saying we'll see you mean that you are going to have music. You can't have a good game without a good soundtrack. It makes you lose all the atmostphere

Life is a joke - death is testing your humour...

I'm pretty impressed by Renegade Heroes too. It has a nice, clean look to it with a consistent style. Anyone making all of their graphics from scratch, I'm in awe of. I've spend half my time on graphics, mainly learning how. And I've taken Coldstone's graphics as my base. Of course, I didn't need Coldstone to make graphics. I still have a ways to go.

I had a two- names- making- one as you, myshkyn. My students saw the title when I used my computer in class and told me that the second half is already used. I dropped it and am now using the first half. I found it difficult because the entire name's in my own head, but now I'm used to it.

Lots of ideas out there. Lots to do without actually having Coldstone, too! Good luck, everybody!

Go homeschoolers. Homeschooling is really fun, cause you get to get out of school earlier, but learn more.
