Hyperion Plug

Already existing or any interest ?

I've recently been working a bit on a plug-in based on Dan Simmon's Hyperion universe. Before I get too far along, I wanted to see if anybody knew of any other efforts similiar to this one. If there is already a plug out there, I don't really want to spend much time trying to make this one super-accurate. I also want to check the pulse of readers to see if there would be much interest in a plug-in that was reasonably faithful to Hyperion's plot and setting. I am aiming for a smallish TC since this is only a one-man job at the moment. That said, I could use some help with stellar desc's from somebody who has read the series.

The only thing I could think of turned out to be the "EVN: Hyperioid" plug.
To my knowledge, no Hyperion plugs are out there/in development.

Edit:
I did a search, nothing seemed to turn up in the Dev Corner (well, it spent 5 minutes doing nothing, waiting for data ), and then searched in all forums, and there it would seem there are die-hard fans of Hyperion. So at first view, it seems it would be a good idea.

I guess you'd better wait for more answers though.

If no one tells you "yes, fab idea" or "absolutely unnecessary", you can always try to find out on the Nova board if there would be takers.

Most of the time, if you're creating something based on something else, it's indeed good to find out if people would enjoy it, but don't make too big a deal out of it or people might get too hyped up and could then hope too much of you.

(If you want my point of view though, stories and plugs created by oneself are better and usually more widely appreciated, since they're something new, original. Good examples are Martin Turner's Frozen Heart and Femme Fatale, MacDevil's Unity and, at a personal level, my own Arpia.
But don't only listen to me since Uncle Twitchy's Star Trek-based TC is widely anticipated by fans and non-fans of Star Trek alike (I myself will be interested in the features most of all I reckon) )

Curse you for reminding me to read the book I have been offered for Xmas (yep, Dan Simmon's Hyperion, in English on top of that...)

Hm somehow that seems pretty dead No update since the 30th of January 2004

It's pretty much comatose, yes.

I still work on it when there's nothing more urgent to do, but there usually is. It has pretty much become a hobby project that will likely never really get finished, but keeps me entertained. (And even if it were different, the universe is big enough for two such plugs, especially since they seem to be quite different in scope).

I'd be happy to share some of the stuff I've been up to so far, if you wish. Mostly just ideas and general concepts (and several metric ######tons of brainstorm sketches, of varying usefulness), though a map of a pretty big galaxy design is getting near to completion (just the design, not the actual implementation in EV).

I should also still have my old notes somewhere, with all the worlds etc. that were actually mentioned in the books - those may come in handy. I can also do some graphics work (mostly 2D, still have to learn decent 3D modeling), but I'm not promising anything just yet.

Actually, it's funny - this afternoon I found myself wondering whether I shouldn't either take down that site, or update it... which is why I checked this board again for the first time in months.
Second time in three weeks I've had one of these webboard synchronicities... weird.
