I think it's pointless. Voting on the boards isn't democratic, it's impossible- people will vote, all right- under many different screen names so they or htier choice of candidates recieves as many votes as possible. Leave the karma matters to the mods, folks- they understand karma matters way more than anybody else on the boards.

Yes, you are missing something actually. Cap'n Carno is moderator of the "EV Banter and Brawl," which gives him no authority to delete or close topics on other forums besides the one he moderates. One of the moderators who works here at the Override board will have to close the topic.

I agree that this topic really isn't necessary, but I'm not going to close it, since it has been an interesting discussion.
If anyone thinks that the mods have missed something serious, either good or bad, send an e-mail to one of the mods listed at the top of the appropriate board, explain why you think so (for example, there's a flamer, someone's posting porn, someone's being really helpful or kind, or here's someone who's posted detailed info that's very helpful to EV/O players, etc.), and put a link to the appropriate message string.
Keep in mind a couple of things:
It's possible that a mod already raised or lowered the karma. You can't really tell unless you are the recipient or another mod trying to change karma on the same post.
We are not on the boards (or the internet) 24 hours a day. If something bad needs to be deleted, we may not get the e-mail right away, so try to be a bit patient. Also, if one mod doesn't respond in a day or two to delete something really serious (flames, porm, harassment, bigotry), try another mod. The first mod may be out of town, or sick, or just swamped temporarily with work.
Please don't send e-mails for every little thing. Only the serious stuff that it appears that we have somehow missed (after waiting a decent interval to see if the mods notice it).

You know the saddest thing to come out of this is the fact that people like G&T; would actually post something like this. Who cares about karma unless it's at the big -10. It's just a warning or an approvall. Before mods would say "Hey don't do that!" Now they just lower karma. It's easier faster and more to the point. Speaking of which you guys (Guns and silver and that lot) missed the point of Karma. It's not a popularity contest. It's a behovioral guide. If you wan't a popularity contest then start another "Best on the board" topic, not a "Karma Vote".

Me too. It's my ultimate dream - moderating EV and EVO webboards, or maybe the Chronicles place when I start posting a lot there.
But first I need at least 2000 posts.
I know it shouldn't matter, but no matter how nice and responsible someone is they won't get to be a moderator with 160 posts.
Well, maybe you will, but remember a large bit of luck is involved. I was lucky because Kwanzar resigned and someone needed to replace him.
